Customer service

I had a warning light come on my car on a Sunday morning. I was 500 miles from home. The owners manual stated to turn off the car immediately and call the dealer. The light stated it had to do with 1 of 4 things one being the hybrid system or the transmission. Sounded serious. I decided I needed to drive to a dealer and they were all closed on Sunday or just the sales department was open. I then tried to call customer service and I had to find the number from the Internet it was not easily found in the manual. I called customer service and the lady stated all she could do would be to have it towed to the dealer. They did not have any technicians available to talk me thru the process or to help me understand the warning. This needs to be corrected. Toyota should have someone to talk to the customers on weekend holidays and after hours. This being said I would not getting until some time Monday after the dealer looked at the car. The car seemed to be running fine. The car only had 1000 miles on it and I had just purchased it a month ago. I decided to drive it home. I tried to stop at dealers along the route home and no dealer was available. I brought it straight to the dealer at home and it seemed to be running fine but the warning light was still on and no change in the light. I left the car in the night drop and a note stating the situation. The dealer called me the next morning and let me know the light was on due to the gas cap being loose at one one time. I had checked the cap and it was on tight, apparently the dealer has to reset this. The cost to reset it is $80 and it was not under the warranty. This is ridiculous that the car would not reset itself if the cap were put on tightly the next time or by resetting a setting inside the car like oil changes and tire rotations. The dealer stated that is just the way it is and that was this way in all of these cars. I believe this should be changed and if the dealer has to reset it they should do it at no charge. The warning light should be different and it should state the gas cap is not on properly. The owners manual should also state this as well as give you the customer service number. Toyota needs to have a technition available by phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This is just my opinion. Something needs to change.

great salesman and great deal

first time leasing a car, staff made it easy. I would shop with them in the future. the 2016 prius c is really nice and has great gas mileage.
