Tim Black is very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Best salesperson I have ever dealt with. Every question that was asked was answered to my satisfaction. Buying this car was very easy and pleasant. Tim seemed honest and open. I felt the price of the car was good. I really don't know if I could say it was a "great" price. My overall buying experience was great. I was able to drive the models that I was most interested in and had all my questions answered. David Brown, my sales person was most helpfull and was able to find the CC I eventually purchased at a great price. I would highly recommend this dealer to anybody interested in a new or used product.

So this is not at all my style to write reviews, but I felt that as a fellow consumer, this needs to be communicated to potential customers of this dealership. The moral of this story is to make sure you ask whether your used car has been 'reconditioned' in any way, because it happens all too aften and gets disguised as routine. I purchased a used car from this dealership some months ago. The sales rep, Dave Brown has been nice and I was on the verge of buying another car from him, until by chance I was made aware of a pre-existing issue with my car. Before I purchased the car, I noticed overspray below the front bumper. This alarmed me a bit and looked quite sloppy, but they explained it as a routine bumper spray to cover rockchips, which I accepted after making sure that there was no greater frame or structural damage beneath it. Some month passed and I hit a curb while parking, at very low speeds. What should have just resulted in paint damage, has been an ever-growing crack in the actual bumper, which is designed to be flexible and take basic impacts like that without any problems. Last week, I tried to sell the car. The prospective buyer took the car for inspection and a bodyshop reported back that the bumper had bondo and patchwork done to it internally, not visible to the naked eye. Needless to say I lost that customer and went back to VW Charlotte and met sales manager Matt Donovan, who was always more than happy to see me since he knew I was in the market for a new car. However his tone changed as soon as I brought this issue up and it became defensive. I explained to him in detail the situation and that I lost a buyer. At the same time, I let him know that I am not in this to get something for nothing, but that this is about principle and that they were not truthful to the customer upon purchase, in regards to the extent of the damage. I asked him to help me resolve this, since it is minor and they can do it in-house, that I would split or even cover the price if done at cost. All to no avail. His explanation was that "we recondition cars all the time and there is no way of knowing what we have done to each car, since we sell so many". I asked him to look at the records to see whether indeed it was just rock chips or greater damage that they covered up with the bondo and repaint, he refused. A follow-up call netted no results and he reiterated that "your bad review will not tarnish all the good ones we get". I told him that this is not my intent, to tarnish their rep, just to make sure that customers are aware that there is a level of reconditioning going on which is above and beyond a respray, which I feel is important for customers to know. Shame that it became about ego and muscle-flexing more than customer service in the end, because I sincerely believe that for $150.00, which I would have paid, they could have rectified the situation. Please be aware of 'reconditioning' at VW South Charlotte.

The reason we came back to your dealership to purchase was 1)we liked the car and price 2) We like Tim's no pressure and really understanding our wants way of selling. Tim was very helpful, friendly and informative. He was not pushy on our first visit and tried to learn what we were looking for. He called us back when he said he would and gave us the information we wanted. His overall personality is great - he seems like an old friend! I will definitely refer my friends to him if they choose to look at VW for their next vehicle.

Matt helped me out over the course of a few weeks. I first sent in a referral online and Matt was prompt to email me and call me back. He accommodated my odd hours due to me working most days until close to closing time. I did most of my research online and talked with him over the phone. I went into the dealership around the time he was supposed to be getting off and ended up buying that car that day. He got me a really good rate on the car at the price I was looking to spend and I was even able to get the APR tune on my 2009 VW CC when I purchased the car. Overall my experience with the dealership has been great. When I got the tune on my car they even drove me to my job and picked me up so I didn't have to worry about driving back to the dealership. I liked working with Matt enough that whenever I know someone who is interested in getting a vehicle I send them to him and I'm in the process of getting a friend into a CC like myself. After three months I couldn't be happier with VW of South Charlotte and Matt!
