One of the Best Cars I've Ever Owned...

Rides like a dream! Imagine driving a marshmallow. Smooth, responsive handling. Quick little turbo engine. Lots of cargo space. Beautiful color (lightning blue). If I wasn't expanding the family (3+ kids) I would be keeping this car until it ran into the ground.

Great little car, except for ...

My wife and I were looking for a small SUV, and went to the Ford dealer with a Transit in mind. We didn't really care for what they had to offer, so they showed us an Escape, which was much more to our liking. It was more streamlined, better on gas, and had plenty of room. However, we didn't really care for the new ones, and asked if they had any used. They showed us a 2018 with more bells and whistles than we had ever seen in a car, leather seats and all. The price was agreeable, and we liked the feel of the test drive, so we bought it. The only problem we have had with it, unfortunately a pretty major one, was a defect in the engine block that caused coolant to leak into the cylinders. The dealer repaired it within a week and it's been smooth sailing so far.

Lemon

This Ford product and many other Ford models with a 1.5 liter engine had so many problems with coolant intake that there were numerous recalls and even class action lawsuits. I didn't know this at time of purchase BUT Ford did. They should never have done me this car without fisclosing the known problems. I experienced two major breakdowns that required total engine replacement and kept the car in repair 6 weeks each time.

Beautiful car for the money

I have driven a Ford Taurus and a Ford Fusion for the past 24 years and loved both sedans. The seats were especially comfortable. I decided to try a pre owned SUV this time. I wanted a bright red car which also limited my choices. This Escape handles well and rides smoothly and quietly. The gas mileage has been 26 mpg for local trips. My only complaint is that the seats are not comfortable. One salesman told me none of the SUVs would be as comfortable as my sedan. I did not test drive other SUVs because of COVID-19 risk. There is a control that shuts off the engine as soon as I stop at an intersection. The car starts immediately when I press the gas but It still annoys me. I can shut that feature off by pressing a button once I remember. I am elderly and have to struggle to get my kayak onto the roof. Otherwise I like the car and plan to keep it as long as I can drive.

First new car, horrible experience

Engine went bad 1 year and 1 month after having vehicle. After replacing the engine, I still have a pulling feeling that ford is refusing to identify and repair. And the entire right side of my vehicle fell and yet again ford is refusing to fix that as well. I have bumper to bumper warranty to 36,000 miles and I am at 19,512 miles.
