First New Truck in 15 Years
This is the first new truck that I have owned in 15 years. My previous truck was a Nissan Frontier 5-speed manual. This is also the first automatic transmission that I have owned in 25 years. I love the interior/exterior design, bed, stereo, back-up camera, back-up warning alarms, etc. of the Tacoma. It is comfortable to drive and I do like the automatic transmission in stop-and-go traffic. However, there are a number of items of which I am disappointed: 1) Gas mileage was reported at 18 City/23 Hwy. I do mostly highway driving and don't quite get 19 mpg. This was one of the reasons I chose the Tacoma over the Frontier but this is what I used to get on my Frontier . The highway number must be calculated at 55 mph going down hill. 2) Highway performance. When driving on the highway when you try to accelerate there is a lag. You push push push the accelerator and nothing happens, then it downshifts and you take off. Perhaps this is me not being used to driving an automatic in a truck, but my wife's Ford Escape has plenty of power without downshifting. Don't get me wrong there is plenty of power to accelerate and pass on the highway, it just has to downshift to get it. 3) Technical package. I got the technical package but it has no "self parking", "front-warning sensors", and "remote start"; my wife's 2013 Escape has these. Overall the low mileage is something that I am used to and the other tech features are no big deal because I am not used to having them anyway. However, the lack of power (in my opinion) on the highway is something that I will have to get used to. I have had this vehicle less than a year so there is plenty of time.

Reliable, but too small for a family.
Great reliable truck, but absolutely too small. I am 5?10 and feel tight in it by myself. I think it?s a great truck if you are not tall and usually just drive by yourself or maybe one passenger. My sons feet rest on the drivers seat because there is not enough room for them to dangle. I am as close as possible to be able to drive safely, but not comfortable at all. My wife?s knees, she?s 5?5, are touching the dash while the rear facing seat is touching the front seat. That?s how tow adults and two kids fit in this truck. I drove a couple of times with 4 adults and it was pretty much the same scenario for the driver and the front seat passenger and the rear passengers barely had enough room.

Quality throughout! Nice design, great features.!
Nice design, quality feel. Good ride for a pickup. Good turning radius. Snug back seat. Love the color,(Quicksand), and lack of chrome. More features than you can shake a stick at.
