Love The Old Acura Body Style

This 2006 Acura is a great car. It is fast, has a spacious interior and sharp looking exterior. Comes with all the safety features of the time. Does not have an Aux cord port or USB outlet. Does have a cassette and CD player. LOL The body and the interior still look great after all these years. Only the drivers leather seat split but I was able to get it repaired. Headlight lens are beginning to fog. Car needs premium gas to run smoothly and to keep the check engine light off. Car is heavy but fast. Average at best on snow with good all season tires. Mileage is about 26 MPG city and 28-30 highway.

Great Car

Extremely reliable car that never presented any major issues. I still think this is one of the best looking cars on the road.

2006 Acura TL Review

I have owned my 2006 Acura TL Auto w/o Nav since I was sixteen, so I have had it for almost five years. On the whole, the performance and comfort have been quite impressive to me. Acceleration is brisk, and the seats and driving position are quite comfortable. The features are impressive for a car manufactured in 2006. The car does quite well in the snow with fresh tires, although you often have to shut off the hyperactive stability control in the heavy stuff. Reliability has only been so-so. I have about 183,000 miles on the car, but the maintenance has been rather expensive over the past five years. I bought the vehicle used w/ about 128k on it and have since: replaced the accelerator control module, replaced the tires 3-4 times (this thing burns through tires), performed an alignment, replaced the spark plugs, replaced the drive belts twice, replaced the timing belt and water pump (also adding a shim kit to alleviate a washing machine noise at warmup), disconnected the bluetooth due to a draw on the battery, replaced the brakes, rotors, and calipers, and also replaced the battery several times. On the whole, I am pleased that the car has made it for as long as it has, but I probably could have purchased a new car with what I spent originally + the $6-7k I have spent on maintenance over the past five years. The TL is a nice car, but the maintenance and premium gas are not inexpensive. I would recommend the vehicle to a friend, but I would not get one with high mileage due to the maintenance expenses. If you are looking at used TLs, I would also steer clear of the tan leather. It has not worn well in my TL.

Head gasket failure led to replacement engine

This is a moderately sporty smallish sedan with very attractive exterior styling. Front seats are reasonably roomy but back seat legroom is sorely lacking. Small trunk, too. Seat cushions are rather firm in front. Entry/exit is compromised by dash design - a common Honda theme. My big gripe is having to replace a hydrolocked engine after several months in storage. A tiny head gasket leak was the culprit. Replacement engine, work done by independent shop, runs more smoothly than original (despite original with only 30,000 miles). Cheap OEM radiator also replaced. Fuel economy remains poor in town. Like others I've had to disconnect Bluetooth to prevent battery drain. Responsive throttle and brake pedals would make this car a handful to drive in slippery conditions. That said, this car is an excellent highway cruiser (if you find the seating comfortable); I've driven over 1300 miles in a day. At least some credit is due to Bridgestone RE970 tires that track so well.

Best Looking Acura Ever Made

I purchased my 2006 Acura TL 6-Speed in 2008. It was high mileage then -- about 70K miles -- and I've added about another 120K miles. The vehicle has performed flawlessly with NO MECHANICAL FAILURES in the subsequent 7 years I've owned it -- just routine maintenance. This is by far the best looking Acura sedan ever made and one of the best looking sedans of any brand.

best Acura ever!

We have owned in the family the Legend and the Integra series in 1980s. Started with a lease on a 2006 6 speed Spring 2006. Bought it in 2009 with lease expiration and now have 70m . Has been flawless with Conti Contacts needed in MN.winters. Was thinking about TLX 2015 but I love the shifter.. Driving and handling remain solid. It is "not broke so don't fix it" or replace it wisdom. Personal value greater than wholesale now. Utility greater than my prior 1986 RX7 Turbo (useless in winter). Both great fun to drive! Now if I could just get my Gen X and Y children to learn to shift! it would be a great hand me down.
