Title: Disappointed with the 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale –

Title: Disappointed with the 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale – Unreliable and Poor Support I leased the 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale and regret the decision. While the initial buying experience was smooth and pleasant, the ownership has been nothing short of frustrating. The car spent three months in the dealership early on due to a damaged water pump and hose, simply waiting for parts to arrive from Italy. Most recently, the engine broke, and once again, I was told there’s no estimated time of arrival for the parts. Performance has also been a letdown. The electric range is advertised optimistically — in reality, I barely get 30 miles on a full charge, and the gas mileage isn’t great either, requiring frequent refueling. For a plug-in hybrid, it falls short on both ends. To make matters worse, the service department was very disorganized, making the whole experience even more stressful. It felt like the car spent more time in the shop than on the road. If you’re looking for reliability, responsive service, and solid performance, I would not recommend the Alfa Romeo Tonale. Beautiful design, yes — but not worth the hassle.

Having leased numerous vehicles from numerous

Having leased numerous vehicles from numerous manufacturers over the past 25+ years, the Tonale is the second worst new car I've ever leased. First, the engine/transmission regularly has difficulty (eg hesitates, delayed reaction) when trying to accelerate which is most likely caused by the computer trying to decide whether to engage the batteries or engine. Second, the vehicle never gets the mileage as displayed. For example, today it said the vehicle would go 56 miles before being out of energy (31 miles electric) and gas (25 miles). I traveled 16 miles on flat highway and didn't over accelerate and the fully charged battery was down to 12 miles and the gas tank was showing empty. Third, there are multiple issues with the locking system, remote access, tailgate, etc. such as doors not unlocking after multiple tries to open using all methods and the tailgate not closing properly. Fourth, entertainment system is full of glitches (e.g. randomly changing screens, not switching radio stations after tapping a different one, etc.). Fifth, the navigation system is the worst ever. Most of the time you have to repeat yourself multiple times, it rarely finds the location, and it usually directs you to the worst/most dangerous route (e.g. 2-lane rd). In comparison, I never have to repeat myself using Google Maps and it always finds the location choosing the best route. FYI--I've previously leased the AR Stelvio Ti 3x and only had issues with the Navigation system. And don't get me started with the idiot that approved the 31 mile battery and a 10 gallon gas tank. Pure stupidity!

I enjoyed exploring the roads with this car.

I enjoyed exploring the roads with this car. The drive quality is impressive and it was extremely comfortable. The aesthetics could have been better, but I like it overall.

Highly Recommend, especially in red!

I just purchased the new Tonale Veloce SUV. I traded in my Giulia and thought I would miss it, but I love this new Alfa. The red paint is gorgeous. The interior is so comfortable and has high tech controls. All the assisted driving safety features are configurable to your liking. This is a fun, sporty SUV to drive. It's super spunky on electric or gas.

Alfa Romeo Tonale

My Tonale is terrific! It’s a little smaller than my previous Honda CRV but perfect for two people in front and my dog in back. It’s a little tight for four adults so we take my wife’s if we have a foursome. I bought it in July and it’s used three or four tanks of gas total. Driving around town I use the all electric setting. It’s so pretty I get lots of looks!
