Expert 2021 Audi A4 allroad review

Our expert's take
By Cars.com Editors
Full article

What Is the 2021 Audi A4?

The Audi A4 is the German luxury brand’s rival to compact luxury cars like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Cadillac CT4. Offered with standard all-wheel drive, the A4 comes with a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder engines and is available as a sedan or Allroad wagon. The performance-oriented S4 sedan gets a 349-hp, turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6.

What’s New on the 2021 Audi A4?

The front-wheel-drive A4 has been discontinued, and both turbo four-cylinder engines get a 13-hp power boost, now rated at 201 and 261 hp. Wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity and lane departure warning are now standard.

What Features in the 2021 Audi A4 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • LED headlights with high-beam assist
  • 10.1-inch touchscreen
  • Leather seats
  • Heated front seats
  • Power moonroof

Available features include:

  • Keyless access
  • Audi Virtual Cockpit with 12.3-inch digital instrument panel
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Head-up display
  • Navigation
  • Bang & Olufsen premium stereo
  • Blind spot warning

Should I Buy the 2021 Audi A4?

The Audi A4 needs to be good to stand out among so many worthy rivals in the compact luxury car arena. While its turbocharged four-cylinder engines don’t have eye-popping power output, they’re remarkably smooth and deliver a great blend of performance and fuel efficiency. A 2020 makeover brought improvements to an already excellent cabin, including the welcome addition of a central touchscreen for the multimedia system. Rear-seat accommodations are fine for a pair of adults, but squeezing three people back there could be tough.

  • Newer not always better.

Loved my 2018 All Road but decided to upgrade to the 2021. After putting over a 1k miles on it. I can honestly say this isn’t as good as my 18. It feels more like a crossover than a car. Highway handling isn’t as good. On windy days you can definitely feel it. Doesn’t feel as stable on wet conditions. Acceleration isn’t as peppy. Seems like they went from sporty to practical. Very disappointed.

  • Most reliable car to ever owm

I own a 2019 2nd Allroad I've owned. I have a preium plus summer & winter package. I have the lower thigh support. Great on fuel but it runs on preium gas. Handling is great, and the ride makes you want to keep driving it. I never had issues with my 2014 and after a year & half nearing 35K miles I have only changed oil rotated the tires. Audi dealerships treat you Right. Not impressed with BMW, my wife's car spends it's life at the dealership! Quatro over X-drive no comparison! U will enjoy UR Audi experience.
