Expert 2021 Audi A6 allroad review

Our expert's take
By Cars.com Editors
Full article

What Is the 2021 Audi A6?

The Audi A6 is a mid-size luxury sedan that bridges the gap between the German automaker’s smaller A4 sedan and the full-size A8 sedan. Engines range from mild to wild, with the S6’s 444-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 falling into the latter category.

Base sedans are powered by a 248-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that works with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 335-hp, turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 is available, and this engine also powers the Allroad wagon. All-wheel drive is standard. Competitors include the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class

What’s New on the 2021 Audi A6?

The A6 was redesigned for the 2019 model year; changes for 2021 consist of the reshuffling of some features within option packages.

What Features in the 2021 Audi A6 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Dual center touchscreens
  • Leather seating surfaces
  • Power moonroof
  • Heated front seats
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Apple CarPlay, Android Auto smartphone connectivity

Available features include:

  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Bang & Olufsen premium stereo
  • Head-up display
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Sport suspension

Should I Buy the 2021 Audi A6?

With a choice of body styles and powertrains, there’s probably an A6 that will meet your luxury car needs. Interior quality is a familiar Audi highlight, but we’re less impressed by the A6’s adoption of many touch-sensitive controls. The sedan’s trunk is also on the small side.

  • Worth the price

The only possible issue someone might have with this vehicle is the initial cost. But, with the prestige edition, after driving this vehicle for a while, you will conclude that it is well worth the price. There are amenities that I have never seen before, e.g., electronic soft closures on all doors. Plus the performance, interior design and quality that you would expect in an Audi.

  • Best alternative to an SUV

We have dogs who are getting older so we needed a car that was easier for them jump into. We live in MA and have a house ME, so we also needed car that can handles lots of snow. This car is absolutely perfect. After 8 SUVs, the transition to the AUDI was seamless. We have done 6 trips to ME [200 miles each way] and the car drives like a dream. The optional massage function is fantastic and you arrive with out being sore from sitting for 4 hours. The level of technology was a little intimidating at first, but after about two weeks, you realize that all the functions are intuitively built into the platform. The car is FAST! 0-60 in about 5 secs.
