LUXURY & POWER THE PERFECT MARRIAGE

by DOKTOR from GRAND PRAIRIE TEXAS on Thu Mar 12 2009

BEFORE MY 500 MILE DRIVE FROM GRAND PRAIRIE TO BATON ROUGE LA. BECAME BORING TO SAY THE LEAST;TRIPPLE DIGIT SPEEDS IN MY AMERICAN MADE VECHICLES FOR EXTENDED PERIODS WERE MORE CHALLENGING THAN REWARDING. MY S8 MODIFIED ALL THAT SO MUCH SO I NOTICED MY WIFE WHO NEVER SPEEDS APPROACHING TRIPLE DIGITS WHEN DRIVING. I'LL TAKE ENJOYMENT & COMFORT OVER ECONOMY ANYDAY !!!!!!

Missed having a big car

by nice ride from Eastern PA on Tue Sep 08 2009

The 2001 S8 is a steller car. It loves the highway as well as the twisting back roads of eastern PA. Handles like it is half the size, but is a big smooth rider. I've had a 99 Saab 95 with aftermarket Eibach suspension all around - 2.3 turbo, and the S8 handles like a car that size. I like to jump from the 2001 S8 into my 99 Z3 Coupe. Great compliments they are.

Our Take on the 2001 Audi S8

Audi is an auto manufacturer that, just eight years ago, was on the ropes. From peak North American sales of 72,000 in 1985, its share of that market had fallen to just 12,000 in 1993. Quality problems and reports of dangerous and unpredictable accelerations will do that to a car company.

As Len Hunt, head of Audi North America, recently said of his company's earlier misfortunes, standing before a crushed bell curve graph depicting the peak and nadir (and subsequent rise again) of Audi sales, officials were left wondering, "Who dropped the anvil on our sales history?"

But Audi is back, with a revamped lineup of 4s, 6s, 8s, the TT Quattro, and its SUV/station wagon, the allroad. Sales... Read More
