Fun and comfortable but far too in trustworthy.

Had one for a while, only 150000kms, fully serviced. Pros: - Decent power - Excellent handling at high speeds - Impressive maneuverability for its size - Seats are very comfortable and adjustable - Electrics are somewhat reliable for its age - Parts are not as expensive as people exclaim Cons: - Horrible gearbox in terms of performance and reliability (ZF Auto trans, manual is basically impossible to find for the early model E60) - Mediocre and expensive suspension system - Fragile aluminium front 1/3 and highly fragile subframe system - Engine is falsely proclaimed as 'bulletproof' by enthusiasts - the M54B30 is the definition of untrustworthy and uncertainty - M54 requires constant repairs due to cheap Chinese plastic parts, water pump, thermostat, DISA valve, PCV, Coolant reservoir, OFHG, HPFP, Throttle bodies, camshaft issues and fuel injection issues just to name a few of the almost certain problems to come. Overall, since you have to spend thousands of dollars and hours of stress it is NOT worth it. The amount of headaches are on par with the S85 V10 e60 M5 which actually gives reward back in performance unlike the 530i.

Great year model for BMW.

Expect to get 220,000 additional miles with repair investment on worn out gaskets and leaking fuel tank. $2800 for repairs + $7000 for purchase over 12 years is less investment than my 2015 Flex with very expensive brakes/tires/general maintenance and regular schedules repairs. Gas mileage is much better than Flex.

One of the most coolest cars I ever drove

This car was great. I always wanted to own a BMW. Even though I ended up Passing on the car, I enjoyed it so much.

Looking good

Drive Power, if you have a gas money this car is good. Inside it not big as we see from outside. Old but parts still aren't cheap.

Very reliable

after driving the Pilot, Ridgeline, Highlander, Santa Fe, and several others, the BMW530i was by far the best value for my money. It is solidly built, quiet, and smooth. The ride is like a Lexus and it handles almost like a sedan. It's just the right size, has very comfortable seats and is loaded with technology! On my first 500+ mile trip, I averaged30 mpg. If you're looking for a new sports car in this segment, put this one on your short list to test drive.

How Long Can You Keep A Car

If you are willing to do routine maintenance and drive responsibly there really is no limit to how long you can keep a BMW. They are made to last. We have a 2004 BMW 530i that looks as good as the day it was made and it has over 230,000 miles on it. The only reason we chose to get a newer car is because of the options that are now available in newer BMWs.
