Smooth cruiser with effortless acceleratoin

by BSchulte from Carlsbad on Wed Jun 06 2018

The 535D is my first diesel. I have owed several bmws in the past. I believe the multi-contour seats are a must have!! They make the driving experience so much more enjoyable. The diesel has a different feel when accelerating, no loud noise, high rpm's and drama ... just a smooth strong pull

BMW 535D

by Maggie from Saint Petersburg on Sun Jul 29 2018

I have owned and driven several BMWs, but this one is my favorite. Diesel makes it affordable, and at the same time drives as a regular car, very powerful and fast, and I feel save in it.

Beautiful and fun.

by Tcatdriver from Germantown, Tn on Tue May 01 2018

I bought this car after months of research and it has greatly exceeded my expectations. The car is fast but gets 40 mpg on the hey. Its super high tech and very sexy. Love it.

Fun to drive. Great exterior styling

by Abrahaja on Fri Feb 09 2018

Gives great gas mileage. The Heads up display is excellent. I love the Msport exterior styling. The interface screen has many choices for the display. Navigating various menu options can easily be done with shortcut buttons. Overall this car is definitely a fun and exciting to drive.

38 MPG Highway and Plenty of Torque

by Robert from Arlington, Virginia on Wed Sep 12 2018

The 535dx is a great highway cruiser, and decent for around-town trips. A family hauler for sure, but also in M Sport clothing a surprisingly agile and capable performance sedan. Sad to see the diesel variants disappearing, but I guess the internal combustion engine is next. If you can find one used, they're great values. And and the turbo diesel is an exceptional powerplant.

Faaaast and Elegant Diesel

by Nick F. from McHenry, IL on Sun Sep 17 2017

My 535 MBW Diesel is amazing, get a great 37.2 mpg during normal commute, provides a lot of luxury and comfort yet has a lots of pep when you need it, quiet engine, shifting is great and has a lot of style, very roomy and tons of features. BMW offers a lot for the price vs. other brands. A must have.

Great Luxury Car

by James from Tipp City, OH on Sun Oct 28 2018

This is a very nice car, plenty of power whenever you want it for its size. Handles well at driving speeds. Interior is very nice and what you would expect from a BMW. Also lots of trunk space.

Our Take on the 2015 BMW 535d

Editor's note: This review was written in August 2014 about the 2014 BMW 535d. Little of substance has changed with this year's model. To see what's new for 2015, click here, or check out a side-by-side comparison of the two model years.

The BMW 535d is a highly capable midsize sport sedan made better by the power and efficiency of its new diesel engine — but adding options quickly spends any money saved by choosing an alternative-fuel powertrain.

Diesel-powered luxury cars are huge business in Europe, where government subsidies and tax structure make diesel a preferred fuel in dozens of countries. They're starting to become more common in the U.S., as well, as German automakers slowly introduce... Read More
