A good value vehicle with Several BIG concerns.

We have done... okay. 1st GM car, and only bought because Mazda MX5, Honda CR-V, too expensive. Good value, reliable up to 48k miles, but materials are cheap, grill completely delaminated the clear coat starting in the 1st year, tailgate trim holds enough water to take a bath in. Power windows weak. Biggest issue is the base engine is ridiculously underpowered with so much tube lag off the line making a left in front of oncoming traffic is a death defying feat every time. The shame is that Buick had an optional engine that worked out to just $200 more. 15 more horse power, 10% more torque (super important) and better fuel efficiency. The upgrade engine was instslled on precisely ZERO pre-built Encores at dealers. It could ONLY BE HAD ON a car you ordered built. The take rate was tiny, and then GM DISCONTINUED THE IPTIONAL ENGINE. First make it impossible to get, then stop offering it because no one even knows about it. They could have made the better engine STANDARD and economies of scale would make it perhaps a $100 increase in the base price. So GM, to keep the price down does the exact WORST thing for the consumer. This disdain for their customers and "bean counters" making engineering decisions are the entire reason I stay away from GM products. They have the capability, engineering and facilities to make world class vehicles But you need to spend hundreds of hours and be am engineer yourself to avoid getting into a mess with GM's management nightmare. Best example is the two (2) COMPLETELY different oil filters used on 2019 and other model year Encores Use the wrong one and oil starvation will cause excess wear. Of course we got the less used oil filter housing and filters are nearly impossible to find.GM used both HENGST and UFI Pil Filter Housings. One included the oil drsin back valve (keeps the filter full of pil to prevent startup with no oil in the top end of the engine) These teo housings take 2 different filters. THE HENGST or UFI filters are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE- the exsct same situation exists on on Chevy Trax, Sonic, andCruze models. We have the UFI with the drain back valve on the filter. Cost more per filter and most 3rd party filter manufacturers do not even make filters for the UFI filter housing. If you have a UFI HOUSING, both filters fit (there are MANYreports of dealers installing wrong one, and arguing eith the customer, refusing to change it until PROVEN WRONG days later. Yes. Thats correct. Authorised Buick dealers are the MOST reported places to screw this up. If the use the Hengst by mistake the filter drains and you dry start your engine every start. I swear I want GM to swap out my housing for the Hengst. What do you think my chances are? Right. GM is entitled to use whatever suppliers components they deem appropriate. They are NOT entitled to fail to communicate the situation to dealers and owners after the fact. And they did fail. Miserably. As I say, the vehicle is a good effort, spoiled by the wearisome same old antics of GM. That Mazda was probably more expensive because it was WORTH more in terms of ownership experience. They are far from perfect, and get no free ride. But a) they learn from mistakes, nit doing the same thing year after year. Sunmary: it's not a bad car by any stretch. It's designed in GM's Germany Facility, and built in Korea -a big plus in my opinion. It just falls short of attention to small details, and is subject to GM's half-hearted warranty service.

Verdict not out yet.

Bought our 2019 Buick Encore preferred new. We loved it. Now under 30,000 miles the grill clear coat pealed, driver side window weatherstripping bad, both strips of molding on roof bad. Dealership has fixed issues, but now power window is fine one day next goes slow.making noises in dash a sometime thing, and ac went off for a day but doing ok now. (Need to video problems because works fine at dealership) of course.Glad it’s still under warranty, but starting to wonder if anyone else having similar issues or if I got a bad apple.

The interior is spacious, Beautifully styled interior. The exterior is nicely styled. The middle console is small. The infotainment center is easy to use once you learn how.

Airbags and brakes failed in accident !

I was in an accident with this vehicle and the air bags never came out. The brakes, I believe failed to work but the dealership told me that if the pedal goes down to the floor, they are still working. Problem is, having to push pedal to the floor caused me to slide down my seat. This caused my body such pain. To this day, I believe my brakes and airbags failed to work.

Worst SUV I have ever bought.

My vehicle is horrible. I have defect tires. Seats are not comfy. You can hear noise with the windows up. No CD player. I can't play my music. CDs are still sold. I have had about 8 GM vehicles. This one is the worst. I'm going to get a Toyota next. I have been loyal to GM since I was 19. Hate it.
