Awesome looks (2 dr coupe) w/ awesome features

Wanted the "V", but NOT the low mpg so I got the 2 dr coupe and "V'd" it out. Grille, calipers, mats, emblems, exhaust etc and now I have the LOOK I wanted (and LOVE) with all wheel drive PLUS very good mpg. Not a rocket ship in performance but certainly IS in features. ALL the toys! Only had it 3 months so far but love, love, love it. An absolute recommend for anyone looking at a CTS. Drove the V and it was a rocket, but the 3.6 is no slouch either.....just not a Porsche and not a V.

Wish I'd bought the Benz

I have a lot of issues with my 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe. I feel it's underpowered for the weight, as it has no pick-up response. Plus the gas mileage is awful around town, which is most of my driving. Absolutely hate the sunroof - what a ridiculous design - only opens about 2 inches. There's a blind spot big enough to hide a tractor trailer - I'm constantly getting honked at because I don't see the car next to me. The front mullion - or whatever you call that giant frame arm holding the windshield blocks your vision on a tight curve. And speaking of turning, the radius is huge. Plan on making a lot of K-turns to get out of a tight spot. Visibility out the back window is about zero. That's why they had to put in the automatic backup screen, which pops in & out the dash every time you go in & out of reverse - really annoying. Very low apron in the front. I'm constantly scraping the pavement when coming out of a driveway - and you'd better plan not to pull up tight to a parking curb or you'll lose that apron piece completely. Also, the trunk lid doesn't stay up when you're loading groceries - wear a helmet if you don't want a concussion. The few plusses are that the interior is lovely and the OnStar & Nav system is superb. However, there's so many fiddly buttons on the console that even after a year I still can't turn on the heat without taking my eyes off the road to look for the right control. Yeah, the car gets lots of compliments, the CTS styling is pretty swank. But overall, I wish I'd bought the Mercedes C350 Coupe.

GM hasn't quite caught up to the Germans yet

Bought a new 2011 CTS-V sedan about 3 months ago. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the car, but I don't feel that GM gives buyers what they're paying for. The performance is top notch. Thats to be expected from a car with 556hp and 551ft/lbs. I'm disappointed with the automatic transmission though. Its just not real good. It shifts slowly, and downshifts are badly delayed. Handling is top notch, and the ride isn't bad for a sport sedan. My biggest problem with this car, is that its essentially a $36,000 CTS thats been enhanced for performance duty. Nowhere is that more apparent then the interior. From day 1 there have been squeaks and rattles. The latch that holds the trunk pass thru is the cheapest plastic in the world. The panels around it flex with almost no pressure, and the latch rattles in its mount. The UltraView sunroof is even worse. Constant rattles. The expensive Recaro seats rub against the console and squeak. And there are a myriad of other squeaks and rattles in the interior, all due to the garbage plastcs GM uses. Just push on any panel and it flexes, rubs against another panel and squeaks. My E39 540i didn't make these noises when it was 6 years old! The mechanicals are questionable as well. There are weird clunks coming from the back of the car, from god knows where....... With less then 1,000 miles, on a $72k car! Performance wise, the CTS-V is a great competitor to the E63 and M5. Luxury wise, GM has a long way to go. For over $70k, they really need to upgrade the interior. If they can't do it, drop the price at least $10k. The V may cost less then its competitors, but you get a lot less for what you're paying. Buyers should know what they're getting before dropping the coin on it. For me, performance is most important. For luxury buyers, look elsewhere. You're not getting luxury here.

Love this car

My wife and I got this car in June. Love the way it performs. Plenty of power and I really like the way it handles on the road. I would like for the suspension to be a little softer and the cabin to be a bit quieter, but all in all a great car.

Get the V and you wont be disappointed

I set out to buy a new CTS Coupe with a manual tranny, but no dealer within 800 miles had one. So I drove the automatic but it was just too sloppy, delay in kick-down when gas was floored was just no good, no way I could settle for a slush-box after my last 2 cars had 6 speeds. No dealer would order a manual unless I would promise to buy, but how could I buy not knowing how the clutch would be? The only manual CTS the dealer had was a V car, and once I drove it it was a MUST HAVE. The clutch is like butter, you can easily let it out slowly enough without even giving it gas and not stall it. No words can describe what happens when the full 556 HP is unleashed, you have to experience it to understand. Switch the Magna-Ride suspention to Competitive mode, and everything tightens up - 'its a rocket sled on rails'. In everyday driving, its the smooth ride around. This car has so many luxury and performance features its almost rediculous - I mean, what other car comes with a g-meter? I love the car, from its looks all the way down to its adaptive headlights - After driving LOTS of cars, including the M3, A5 and M56, I dont think there is anything comparable at any price...

Great Car, loving every minute of driving it

Bought the CTS Coupe Premium edition and I wake up every morning and know that the highlight of my day will be my commute. The inside of the car is luxurious and has anything you could want. I am extemely happy with my purchase. I have seen other reviews that talk negatively about the seats. Don't buy into their hype, the seats are comfortable and hold you in place. Pluses: - This car is gorgeous, people are always asking me about the car - The touchscreen and audio controls are easy to use - The car handles curves like a champ - It is not a race car, but it has more than enough power to get you in trouble - Got it with the polished aluminum wheels, I recommend these as they really POP and are eye catching Negatives: - The contrast on the back up camera in high sunlight is not great - Seeing out the back when backing up is not great and I recommend getting the car with the back-up camera

All form no function

Was taken in by the styling of the 2011 CTS Coupe. The worst car to see out of that I have ever driven. They should not sell this car without a back-up camera. Also the front pillars and mirrors are so large that you cannot out the side when making a turn. If you want to turn heads with styling this could be your car. If you want to see out, buy something else.

There's a New Standard in Town

I just purchased the 2011 3.0 CTS AWD with Luxury package and have to say it totally blows away the A4, BMW 3 series or Mercedes C class in virtually every respect (test drove all three 2011 models). I would argue this car can easily run with the much more expensive A6 and/or 5 Series (I can say that because I've owned both). The CTS is extremely comfortable (especially the drivers seat). All the knobs are easy to access with the exception of the window buttons (I believe they're placed a little too low on the door panel). The technology package is just right and not too overwhelming. The interior is done right with just a hint of interior lighting complimenting a gorgeous interior and wood dash (I highly recommend the luxury package). The moon roof is panorama style which lets in a lot more light that a normal moon roof. The rear leg room is a little tight, but certainly better than the A4, 3 series or C Class. Plenty of trunk space for golf clubs and the like. The rear view window has limited view, but the rear view camera more than makes up for the limited view. Acceleration is nice, being just a bit sluggish in the lower gears although making up for it as you shift into the middle and higher gears (if you prefer power I recommend the 3.6). This car takes curves just as nicely as any of its German competitors mentioned above (if not better) and is very responsive with excellent braking. One very nice benefit over the other cars is it takes regular gas and not premium which can save you considerably. Overall, this car is what I would consider the standard for an entry level luxury car.
