Best car I ever owned

Bought my 2000 Cavalier coupe 2.2 with 3 speed automatic brand new off the lot. It had manual windows/locks, am/FM CD, and a rear spoiler which is exactly what I wanted. In the 17 years I owned that car I put 177,000 +/- miles on the original engine/transmission/struts. The only things that ever needed replacing on my car was tires, brakes, a/c compressor, alternator, and probably 4 batteries. A tuneup was done at 100,000 miles - coils & all. Oil changes were done every 3,000 miles with Castrol 5w20, and a valve cover was replaced around 130,000 miles. That was one tough, peppy 2.2 engine. Around 150,000 miles the rear defroster went out and after that it was one thing after another. I finally sold it when it developed a short nobody could find. It is still on the road today - bought by someone with a better mechanic than me and I even visit my old car from time to time.

Most reliable and dependable car I've ever owned.

I bought this car with over 204,000 miles. I was scared to drive it from Colorado to Texas or from Denver to San Antonio. Because they had a lot of miles on it. But now it has 220,000 miles and still runs. I'm hoping it'll last me at least till 300,000. But out of all the cars I've owned over the years, this has the most miles on it and it is probably the most reliable car. I didn't trust it at 1st but now that I drove over 950 miles straight through without stopping except to put gas. I definitely trust it now.

Most reliable car I ever owned!

I bought my 2000 Cavalier coupe brand new. Red with the tan interior. 3 speed automatic, 2.2 engine, had the little fin on back & a CD player. Good basic car. I drove my cavalier for 16 years with no major problems. The tires that came new on the car weren't great and needed changing around 40,000 miles. Other than oil changes, a muffler, and a tune up at 100k miles, i had no problems. Then at 169k miles it developed a short and kept eating batteries. Nobody could find the short. Then my gear shift cable came off. After the 4th battery in a year, I sold it for $900. That was 3 years ago. The guy fixed it up for his teenaged son. It now has over 200k miles on it. They disconnect the battery when they park it.

Best 600 bucks I've ever spent. LOVE my Cavalier.

I bought a red Coupe a couple months back. The dash is in almost pristine condition (unlike most Cavaliers), only has one crack on the top trim by the windshield. It has 220,000 miles but runs and drives like new and straight as an arrow. The transmission is jumpy and downshifts when you go uphills or when you step on it though. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it 1,000 miles or more. The gas mileage is incredible.., Now the bad: blinkers don't work (short in the wiring), A/C doesn't work, windshield is cracked all the way across. The interior could be more comfortable too, the seats are kinda stiff. And the exterior shows it's age well. The clear coat is cheap and peeling all over, rear quarter panels and frame are rusted (another typical Cav thing). And the driver door barely closes unless you slam it. Overall though, the solid engine and how amazingly reliable this beast is makes up for the cosmetic stuff. These cars do hold up well as long as you keep them up on regular service. (The last person that owned mine very obviously didn't hence why it's kinda rough). I will never regret buying this car though. If you're looking for a cheap very reliable car and if you're lucky enough to find one of these relics in decent condition you should definitely buy it. You won't regret it. 10/10 rating.

Great car

I loved this car. Best car I've ever owned. Still started after it was totalled. Never left me stranded. Very reliable and low maintenance. Wish I could find another one.

Very good car

I owned a 2000 cavalier for 10 years, the only thing I had to do to it was breaks and tires. If you want a good car and are on a budget this would be the car you need.

I miss this car

This was my first car, so I guess I miss it for nostalgic reasons. It was a really comfortable little car though. It's too bad the previous owners didn't take good care of it. I know it's not the sportiest car, but I still thought it was fun to drive. It also had really great visibility. This car was purchased for only $800 which was fantastic because it got good gas mileage, and I never had anything go wrong with it. Overall, it's a very good little car.

Best car I ever owned

This car just kept going! It survived 5 collisions with deer, without any major damage. A Silverado owner backed over the hood, with only minor damage to the hood. When I sold it to my brother, it had over 285k miles on it. The only thing I ever replaced, with the exception of normal maintenance items (brakes, wiper blades), was a radiator and cooling fan during my final year of ownership. I wish Chevy had kept making them!
