Great car and nice looking

This is my first car and I fell in love with this car. My husband has Volvo S80 but he likes this car, too :) This was preowned vehicle(about 30,000 mileage at the time of purchase) but has no problem over half a year (not even a minor one) This is a great car for the price and it is very fuel-efficient! I really recommend this car to anyone at any ages!!

Sad to see it go

I got my 2005 Cobalt LS in February 2005 with a GM Smart Buy. I just replaced it with a 2009 Malibu, and was a little sad to see my Cobalt go. The LS package gave me everything that I needed (power windows and locks, keyless entry, ABS, cruise control, etc) plus the power sunroof added some fun. Loved the gas mileage, especially on the highway. Aside from a couple very minor issues in the beginning that the dealer took care of without argument I had NO problems with this car in the four years that I had it. None. My biggest expense was new tires. Had I not needed a slightly bigger vehicle I probably would have bought a second one.

I got a lemon

My sister leased a 2005 Chevy Cobalt brand new.. and then I took over after two years. Since day one with her, the door panel was falling off. We brought it back twice, they fixed it, and it kept happening. After I took over, I then had to unfortunately take over that issue as well. Then not too long after I began to call it my own, it began malfunctioning a little on me. A traction control light would come on, my car would "jolt" back and forth and when i breaked the entire car would give off a big vibration. It wasn't constant, but this happened enough to make someone frustrated. Eventually it got even worse.. my engine light came on as well. And about a week ago, my car got even worse and I couldn't drive it home. I couldn't even turn the wheel and it was reading "low fuel" meanwhile i had plenty of gas. And for the week now it hasn't come out of this issue. The cobalt has a good reputation and it's really not a bad car. I know that I just happened to get a lemon. I'd recommend this to someone because I doubt this is a common issue with this car. good luck on yours!

Cobalt is a wonderful low-cost car!

I purchased this car in May of 2008,used with 43,000 miles on it. My cobalt is white and has a manual transmission. First of all, I really recommend the manual on this car because it is really nice-great clutch and shifting is easy. Besides, it costs less than the automatic and gets better gas millage. I really like controls, they are all easily laid out, and I really like the seats. They are adjustable, and comfortable for a couple of hours. One of the nicest things about this car is size. It is so easy to park, but for its size, it has great passenger and cargo room. I frequently carpool friends too work, so all five seats see use, but their is virtually no wear or tear. However, some of the plastics seem a little rough and cheap. The engine is peppy, and the handling is pretty good. The Cobalt gets great gas millage. With my driving, I get 38 miles per gallon on the highway, about 70 miles per hour, and 27 in the city. So far, their have been no electronic or mechanical problems with the car, and its still under warranty for another 5 years. I do wish that the car was more visually appealing, but I do prefer its styling to that of the Honda Civic's strange styling. I would strongly recomend this car, and Chevrolet in general, seeing as how great their warranty and customer service is.

LOVE it!!

I love this car!! It's my first, I'm a young adult & fell in love with the look of the cobalt, Chevy cars have always been in the family & so that was the main reason I looked at chevy models, This is definately my Favorite! It handels wonderfully!! Very few jerks in turning or lane changing. It's pretty easy to maintain a certain speed too, there aren't a lot of ups & downs, even without cruise control on. My vehicle was used & came with a sport package, which I love too. The only downsides I've found since buying it (About 3-4 months ago.) Is that it's slightly uncomfortable riding over about 1-2 hours, especially in the backseat. Also, around 35-45 mph, there is a slight jerk in shifting (although mine is automatic). I wouldn't change my mind about owning this car though, I really love it! And I drive mostly city & I get 25-26 MPG, Love that too!! :)

Lemon!

This car has been a nightmare form the start! I've had problem with the sunroof leaking, the A/C leaked into the passenger compartment 4 separate times and ruined my laptop that was on the floor. The power window keys have broken twice. The cobalt was in the shop 18 time in the first 12 months. I had to replace the brake pads and roaters at 18,000 miles. I won't be buying another Chevy when my lease is up next month.

The new little Chevy

Ive been driving my 2005 Cobalt LS for 3 years now and have yet to have a problem. Good handling and performance for the class as well as a comfortable drive. 145 horse power is plenty for everyday driving, good pickup and surprisingly good fuel economy. Styling is a little bland on the 4 door model, but alloy wheels and rear spoiler improve the overall look. Interior conforms to driver, instrument placement is excellent. Small personal problem with the range of the headlights (low beams only) but Chevy techs insist they're fine. Greater overall value than Cavalier, Focus, and similar model year Civics. Competition lies with the Mazda3 which has a slightly more aggressive styling and performance.

Great car for the money.

The front seats are great. You really feel like you are in the car. The cars performance was amazing the first time I pushed it. Its transmission is great and has a great feeling clutch. I get 37 mpg on the highway and 32 in the city. Well worth the money.
