18k to 200k Miles in 6 years

I bought my 2012 Malibu in January of 2014. It had 18k miles on it and I proceeded to put 45k miles a year on it for awhile. Then I spent a couple years driving it mostly in the city for work each day. I kept up on maintenance with a GM Specialist Master Tech and at 200k miles it is still running and driving great!! I am very glad I bought it back from insurance. It continued to be a great car for me for a year and a half afterwards and I expect it to be a great vehicle for my sister. In August of 2018 I got hailed on going home. Insurance totaled it out, I bought it back and drove it until March 13 of 2020. On March 14 2020 I sold it to my sister with all of the service records. She is very excited and says that she will continue to maintain it and appreciate it! I was meticulous with maintenance and replaced almost all normal maintenance wear parts on it. There were a few annoying things that went out, and I will list them as follows. The steering in the 2012 Malibu is electronic. I had a part on the steering column go out and I ended up having to replace the entire column and it ended up costing a total of about $1,500. The exhaust manifold developed a crack and exhaust would come into the cabin. I replaced that and a catalytic converter for around $1,000. The radio developed a slight electrical issue and half of it would spazz out and turn off. As my sister takes over the car it still does it. Hasn't been too big of a deal. I hate how hard it is to change the headlights. You have to remove the bumper or go in an awkward way through the wheel well to get to the headlights. I don't understand why it would be so hard to change them. I put basic headlights in to extend the life and changed them out 2 or 3 times in 200k miles. I always did all of the high beams and low beams since it was such a pain. ______________ Very safe vehicle. Watch the video on Youtube of a 2012 Malibu vs a 1959 Chevy Bel Air to watch the 2012 demolish the old steel Bel Air. I am only selling it due to the fact that my work demands we carry a bunch of stuff around in our vehicles, so I am buying a Suburban to make everything easier. I also deal with a mountainous territory and a larger half ton truck with an enclosed bed would make everything more balanced I think. I won't have the great gas mileage I got with my Malibu anymore, so I will effectively make less money.

Not stylish but reliable and efficient

Didn't really like the cup holders but other than that it is a great car! Only letting it go to get something new. Took plenty of road trips, went cross country with plenty of room. Has more horsepower than I was expecting out of a sedan.

Transmission Problem

Ok car my major problem is there is no way on checking the transmission fluid amount. I purchase this car use in 2015 and had to get a transmission replacement in 2018 now 2 years later 2020 and the transmission is gone again. It has me thinkng that the orginal owner sold the car because of these same problems.

A reliable car

I bought a 2012 Malibu back in 2015 with 19,000 miles on it. It’s 2020 and it has 60,000 miles. The car has been really reliable. No problems at all if you keep up with the maintenance. Change oil every 3k miles and drive it carefully, it should last you a long time without any major issues.

It's a good car

Even though this is a great car, me, myself might want a truck or a more of a muscle car. I like eight cylinder cars

VERY low mileage, EXCELLENT condition

Car very clean but does have 2 small dents in the rear. That is why priced so low... Drives like a dream with good fuel economy.
