Stay away
This car was just a money pit. I had the car for about 3 years and i have had repair the fuel pump X2, rear sway bar, lower control arm, crossmember, Intake manifold, throttle body, Valve cover gasket, Wiper fluid hose, tires 3 times, break pads/Shoes/caliper/brake cylinder(when trying to replace drums), alignment, starter, and front axle. Then the check engine light was on with a Code of "Very small vacuum leak" which i was told would cost $600 to even find the leak. I finally got rid of the car once i noticed the engine was misfiring. I went to check the spark plugs and 2 of them were covered with oil. The car had 160k when i traded it in. It didn't have good acceleration. The handling was not smooth. The only thing i liked about the car is that the hatch was really big and had lots of space to fit large items in.

Good value for the dollar
I recently had a 2007 ford five hundred totaled from a rear end collision. AFTER the insurance settlement my wife and I went car shopping. We checked all the online deals and settled on a few to go and check out. We found a 2007 dodge caliper and after doing a thorough check of the vehicle we decided to buy it. It's not the same ride that the Ford was, much stiffer chassis but it is a sport model. all in all the milage is the same and the year is the same. For a four cylinder it has great response. We are happy with our purchase and still do not have a car payment.

Do not buy if you live in the salt belt
2008 Dodge Caliber with dangerously rotted sub frames (front and rear). 2007 model cars are being repaired under an extended warranty for this exact problem but 2008 Calibers (and Jeep Liberties) are NOT COVERED. I have an 8 year old car that I purchased brand new that has NO VALUE. It cannot pass state inspection, cannot be traded, cannot be sold for anything but parts or scrap unless I spend almost $3000.00 dollars on repairs!

Glad I didn't buy one after driving it for a week.
During a two week business trip, the rental car company only had this vehicle available and I was thrilled to try it out. That thrill quickly turned to disappointment. Very cheap plastic all around, loud engine and road noise, and poor handling. After a week, I asked to exchange this car and was given a Dodge Caravan. It was like a breath of fresh air. You know a car is bad when a minivan is far superior by comparison.

Worst mistake I ever made
I bought this car 3 years ago used with 120,000km. I knew within a week it was a mistake. The car has been draining us ever since. The first thing to go was the belt, then the starter, the engine, the clutch and finally the alternator. Last time we took it in, the mechanic told us it would be needing front end work very soon. These cars are not made to last. The previous owner got rid of it in the nick of time, and I inherited the problems. Run, do not walk, as fast as you can away from this vehicle!

we will see
Just bought a used 2007 RT. Handles great in the snow. Engine noise is loud but excellent stereo drowns that out. But major concern. Had check engine light come on. Brought it back to the place I bought it. Had it for over a week. My exhaust manifold had multiple cracks in it. Over a 900 dollar job but was covered by the dealer warranty. We will see how she does but off to a very rocky start.

2007 to 2009 to 2013
We bought a second-hand 2007 Caliber in 2009. I was surprised I liked the look of it, it's different and I feel like it *should* look like a station-wagon, but somehow it doesn't. It doesn't have bells and whistles. No power windows, no power locks. Who cares? We live in a rural location and drove this car on several long trips. It has 150,000km on it. When we bought it I noticed the doors were stiff. The dealership replaced all the door pins before selling. This would have been an expensive job for us. Since then, nothing. We've never had a problem with this car. It's been the pinnacle of reliability. That said, I do personally find the gas mileage to be a disappointment.

Subframe rot and throttle body failure
We bought a 2007 Caliber new in February 2008. Car has been reliable with the exception of the throttle body unit going bad, and the front subframe rotting out. That was by far the worst problem. It rendered the car unsafe to drive. Our local mechanic replaced the frame (not an inexpensive repair). The problem has been reported to Chrysler and after a report was made to NHTSA, the Defect Investigator asked us to ship the frame to Washington to be looked at and evaluated. Anyone owning a Caliber should definitely have an inspection done, and make the reports to Chrysler and NHTSA if a failure is found. This needs to lead to a recall.
