Going on 12yrs
Purchased in summer of 2006, the 2007 Dodge caliber with 2.0L and CVT caught my eye, and I've had good luck with it for over 11 years. I like that it can go long hwy distances in the desert heat, and it's reliable if you respect it. I use it for my long drives, not a daily driver. And maintenance is low cost with the common items like tires, battery, air filters, lubercants and fluids. And, the AC never failed me, and is still going strong. I used a dealer for the first 3 years of maintenance, and DIY maintenance since. Thus, any recalls or problems had been taken care of by the dealer. After 11 years baking in the South West Desert heat, the black plastic trim started deteriorating, and the headlight covers started to fade and discolor. And the paint below the rear window is starting to fade. And that's about it for wear on the exterior. I've seen a lot of reviews of the Caliber from people who bought used, and like any used car, they're sold for a reason. You can bet I'll sell my Caliber when major things like the engine, trans, and electrical system start to fail. According to Wikipedia, in 2007 Dodge sold more Calibers than all other years combined, and sold over 3x more than was sold the following year. Thus, if there are problems for Calibers, it would likely be seen as the 2007 model which has the bad reputation. I suspect that's why so few Calibers were sold in 2008 and the following years. IME the Doge Caliber is a cool looking car that can last a long time with some luck and regular maintenance. It's not a full on SUV, and can't be treated as one, and it's not a sedan and will never drive like one. But, it's large enough for comfortable long distances on highways with great gas mileage (30+mpg). And small enough to have the maneuverability of a compact car, and the cargo area of some crossover SUVs. I would have recommended this car brand new back in 2006 and 2007 brand new. But I do not recommend it as a used vehicle. YMMV.

Caliber
I have had my Dodge Caliber now for 7 years. It is a 2007 with 136,000 miles on it. It is a very reliable car. I am now in the process of shopping around for my next Dodge, the Durango. I don't think I could switch from a Dodge.

Don't waste your money
This car barely lasted 100k miles, even well-maintained. I had to replace the computer twice, and problems with the headlights were constant.

My test drive experience!
I am very impressed w this vehicle... the ac is broke n it needs tires otherwise worth the amt of $ we spent on this used vehicle (one owner) can't believe it's a 4 cyl. Great pick up. It's also a manual, which I love!! Once my issues get taken care of can't wait to get this baby on the road. Very stylish for a "car"!!

Mom car
I bought this car before i had children and it felt like a bit of a mom car. The car had plenty of space and got good gas mileage however there are horrible blind spots on this car :( I had to have the motor mount replaced on this car shortly after owning it however that wasnt bad due to the warranty other than that no other problems came up.

Not a car meant for traveling
This car is not meant to travel long distances. The transmission gets hot and all of a sudden your car drops in speed until it cools down. It is actually in the owners manual that this happens and to either stop the vehicle for a few minutes or turn the a/c off and heat on. Seriously, we live in Florida. What a joke.

Reliable, but under-powered
This car has been in our family from day 1. I believed it to be underpowered then, and I believe it now. Upon rapid acceleration the engine struggles to keep up, making it sound as if it were a standard transmission vehicle with a slipping clutch. The factory-installed premium stereo is Amazing thanks to the 8-inch subwoofer. The suspension is very tight and very responsive. The interior is a bit cramped, but it does the job of getting me to work and back just fine.

I'm sad to we this car go
The at met all of my needs, plenty of room for passengers and cargo! I even drive it for 160,000 miles before trading it into a dealership. She was a great reliable car and I'm sad to see her go.
