Explore the 2004 Ford Explorer

The worst Explorer I've ever bought.

Transmission has been nothing but trouble rebuilt twice and it's back again. The ac front and back nothing but trouble. Back hatch exterior has a cracking problem and Ford knows it and never done anything about it. Needless to say I will not buy another Explorer

Good ride low miles

Only owner. Low miles. 3rd row seat and dual air. Great pick up and go with plenty of room for the family. Normal wear for an '04.

A reliable and strong powered car

This car meets all my needs, to the supermarket, the airport, national parks etc. I renewed the tires, brakes and battery. It works very well. In particular, it has strong power.

Comfortable and roomy

Love the style. The outside is average, nothing spectacular but it still looks good! The fog lights are a necessity when using the low beams because they aren?t very bright! Although stronger bulbs would make a big difference. High beams were acceptable. The inside was perfect! Seats are comfy and roomy, gauges, switches, and radio are easy to read and easy to use. Middle row seats 3 easy even with 2 car seats and there?s plenty of leg room. Third row is better for kids but seats 2 extra people when needed! Cargo area with the 3rd row seats up is virtually non existent, but fold them down and it?s a huge space! Handles very well, went thru snow like nothing and loved it. Bought it used with 149k on it. At 51k the engine went. Started idling rough , and would have no power and then suddenly take off like a rocket. Narrowly missed hitting a person and being hit pulling out into oncoming traffic. All the cylinders were misfiring on one side and all the valves on same side were only operating at 33%. Either way, the engine should not have died!

great Explorer, new transmission, great price

our family has loved this vehicle. we are simply downsizing. We have owned it for two years. cared for it very well - oil changes, maintenance, cleaned, repaired, including putting in a new transmission.
