2004 Ford Explorer consumer reviews

Was nervous about buying Ford; had Toyota prior. But the Ford Explorer Limited V8 is FANTASTIC!! In the past I glaced at crashed rating and never gave it hard, serious thought (don't ask me why, I'm a mom too). However we were in a car accident (we were T-Boned; not our fault) where our truck rolled SEVERAL times before landing upside down. They had to cut the SUV to get us out... BUT WE ALL WALKED AWAY!! Yes, the SUV was totalled. BUT WE WERE ALIVE!!! SAFE AND SECURE!! The only thing it could have had was reclining seats in the 2nd row (like Mercury Mountaineer). LOVED how ALL the seats (even 3rd row) had adjustable seatbelts, esp for the kids!! As a person who is generally skeptical... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Great car! I dont know what else to say. I dont regret the purchase at all. It does everything I need, though I wish the fuel economy was a little better but it was an easy fix with a new performance air filter and performance spark plugs.

Great car to drive this vehicle is looks of fun in the good weather and bad it really works great in the fields also

My 2004 Ford explorer LTD has been a great truck to drive . gas milage is good for a 4,000 lb. 15 1/2 city and 21 on road. The ride is comfortable, quiet, sound, and safe. room for kids and adults. radio sound is perfect. steering is right on the money. look good to.

My first Explorer stalled at an intersection and I was hit from behind at 45 mph while I was trying to get it to go. Could have been killed, Explorer totalled. My second 2004 Explored dumped it's transmission which trashed the engine. Had to replace engine and transmission and then sold it immediately. Totally upside down financially- lost $5,000 thru transaction. Fool me once...

Handles great . OUT STANDING traction in winter snow. Has the ability to switch from Full time 4 WD to Locked High and low range. And you can move from full time to High on the move ...Gerat. Lots of seating and carry room . Lots of storage nooks to put your small stuff. Good gas Milage for a SUV. Used it to tow my small 5x8 Band equipment trailer and the V-6 would pull it anywhere ..PLENTY of torque . More than enough zip.

This was a good deal...a used 2004 with 17,000 miles, I got it for 14,000 and after my trade in I got an extra 2,500 off. I traded in a Toyota Tacoma 97'. I have had this vehicle for about 5 months now and have no complaints. I put a tornado air fliter in and I get about 22hy and 16 city.....it's what I expected. I like to enjoy the out doors and this is the vehicle to do so. The four weel auto has helped a few times and once the 4x4 high is in there is no stoping it. It is a quiet and comfortable ride that really makes you feel safe. You can get god deals on these vehicles...I never though I would buy a Ford used but it has been more that I could expect for 11,500 when it was all said and done.

I hate the V6. Love the all-time 4wd. Love the red paint and chrome grill. Must have side steps, makes it a whole lot easier getting in or out. I hate the fuel economy, I get avg. 18.72mpg and thats accurate for the last 6 months. Took on a trip could not believe how comfortable it was never thought in a million years it would be as comfortable as it was. Best feature on the truck is its head light system. Wowwww, high lights are something else they show everything even to the sides and the fog lights are great in the city if you have a hard time driving at night. I have the 3rd row seat and its great when you have to haul a whole bunch of people because then you only have to use one vehicle. The rear heat and air is a must so everyone has vent and the heat is distributed throughout the vehicle. I love the grey cloth and metal looking facia interior, very sharp. Love the ride height, your way up there. Overall a good vehicle although not perfect, but then again what is perfect.

Bought this car for family duties. Third row seat a big plus. Turning radius better than our PT Cruiser! Car does what's designed to do haul people, things, and trailers on vaction. Smooth ride. Love the features auto lights, electronic door enrty used way more than I ever thought. Cons Gas Mileage, Transmission shifting sloppy.

I will never, ever own another Ford vehicle. This is the most recalled, non-functioning vehicle I have ever had. It will sporatically malfunction- sometimes it shuts off, sometimes the window control panel doesn't work, sometimes the gas gauge is wrong, hey, even the back hatch breaks without warning. Just beware of this vehicle, it has a lot of little hassles with it. It was also recalled for the wrong transmission fluid- which made the transmission slip between gears, and jerked between reverse and drive. Gotta love a Ford!!!
