the tranny is junk bought car new for my wife she loves the look of the car but is scared because the tranny has been a problem from about 4500 miles first dealer said that there was no fix second dealer fixed but the problem came back. the car looks great , but the tranny is junk. Gonna try to see if ford will stand behind this mistake. if you are willing to drive the wheels off a car when you get it this is not the car for you. what do you do when the warrenty runs out and the tranny is still a problem?

Great Car
I own a 2012 Focus SEL and it is a Great Car. The Focus is very fun to drive and gets good MPG. I have 36,000 miles on it and have not had one problem with it. I highly recommend the Focus.

Finally a Focus I can recommend (SEL Hatchback)
This is not the Focus that Ford built in the early 2000's. It's a whole new car. To start, I have always looked down upon the Focus, seeing it as a lame attempt to replace the aging, but reliable Escort. I have owned 4 Escorts and have always loved the way they drove, and the fact that they were a very economical car that you could drive for a very long time. Admittedly, I have held a grudge against the Focus ever since it took the place of the Escort. Granted, early models of the Focus gave a cheap, unimpressive econo-car experience that was inline with the Escort, but the fact that it was a new line of vehicles, it should have wow'ed consumers, which it didn't for me. I have tried a few Focuses out throughout the years, and though they improved, none of them ever grabbed me as a car that I would want to drive, let alone trust to last. It wasn't until I saw a black hatchback in a dealer lot that I had been impressed with the look of a Focus. It looked good enough that I decided to give the latest generation a test drive. After all these years, the Focus has won me over. -The handling is incredible as it carves turns with confidence without feeling like you are going to roll or slide off to the shoulder. The ride is a very well balance between a sporty stiff (great for reading the road,) and a comfortable cushioning which makes long trips a pleasure. The rear disc brakes make it really stop in a hurry when you need it to. -Power is adequete, as it will get up and go when you need it to, but won't fulfill the need for a torque filled launch (unlike the 13 ST trim.) Still, using the Powershift (which is essentially a manual transmission that acts like a manual) to shift through the gears can get you to the powerband when you want without having to wait for the transmission to respond from stomping the gas pedal. I have avaeraged right at the EPA rating of 30 between half city and half hwy driving. -Interior room is fairly good for a small car. Being 6'3", I can set the seat back quite far and fit very easily (though backseat room behind me suffers.) The leather seats are very confortable, and the entire ensemble really gives a great cockpit feeling. -Features are abundant, and some I wouldn't expect to find in a Focus (rear aid sensors, automatic wipers, a driver optimized sound option.) The steering wheel interface is laid out quite nicely. While I like the paddle buttons (used to activate Sync on the right, and to cancel/resume cruise on the left,) I found they can be accidentaly tapped if you're not careful. The automatic wipers can also sometimes be more of a pain than helpful when it comes to ice and snow, but when it comes to actual rain they are great! All in all, I would say that the Focus has finally stepped up to the plate to offer a great small car driving experience.

Run away (very fast)
Many people have ask how i like my focus. I tell them pretty much what me review title says. Run away very fast, you don't want this car. Anyone who has bought one can confirm the transmission is junk. Makes driving the car feel more like a tractor ride. So buyer beware, do your research.

DO NOT BUY!!!! Biggest purchase mistake ever!!
I purchased my 2012 Ford Focus Titanium on 12/31/11 - this was my first Ford ever. At the time, I thought it was a great vehicle until all the problems began. A coworker also has a 2012 Focus (SE) and has the same problems. * Transmission: The transmission is unresponsive, sputters, and decelerates at will. My car is currently in the shop yet again (this trip makes number 9) and the adviser is telling me that it is functioning correctly. * MyFord Touch/Sync: Randomly selects what it wants from radio stations to functions. Randomly decides to connect to my phone. Displays incorrect information. Ford keeps blaming it on my phone being an iPhone yet the same issues occur when I connect my work cell phone (Android). A couple of months ago, I was randomly contacted by two different attorney offices stating that there are known issues with the 2012 Ford Focus and to contact them to begin the Lemon Law process. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BUY the Ford Focus. This will be my last Ford and I will begin working with an attorney to see if I can fight Ford.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR
I have had endless issues with this car. The entire front end suspension was replaced within the first 3 months I owned it. It has had continual issues with the transmission - it jerks, hesitates when accelerating, shakes and vibrates constantly. This issue has been acknowledged by the dealer however they have said that's just how the car is and there is no way to fix it. My only way out of this terrible car is to take a huge hit financially, since the resale value is absolute garbage. I Will never buy another Ford and I go out of my way to tell everyone about how bad this car is. DO NOT BUY.

Worst Decision EVER
I bought a 2012 Focus last summer brand new and I have been regretting it ever since. This is the worst car to buy and I highly advise that everyone does their research before investing hard earned money into this pile of junk. I have already had my car to the shop over ten times, the clutches have been redone twice, transmission has been "fixed" multiple times, the seats have random stains on them even when no one has been sitting in them, my car shakes and vibrates loudly when I accelerate, and as for trying to accelerate quickly thats a whole different story with the extreme jerk this car has. Also good luck trying to keep the car driving in a straight long on long highway commutes, the stiff jerky steering makes this nearly impossible.

saved my life
I got my 2012 focus a year and a half ago and 42k miles ago. We were t boned by a drunk driver almost a week ago at 55mph. He ran a stop and hit the passenger side of my car doing 9000 worth of damage. My focus and driving experience saved us. His truck was totaled and we spun 3 times landed 350 ft from impact. Ive never felt more safe in a vehicle, the way it handled my quick spin was amazing, we didnt even wobble to flip it stayed on the pavement. I am a proud focus owner andhave had some of the same ttransmission jssues, but they keep doi g it until its fixed! I wouldnt drive anything else! My husband survived the hit because the car is solid.

2012 Ford Focus is the worst car Ford ever made.
I will never buy a Ford car again The 2012 Ford Focus is the worst car I have ever owned. The Transmissions are defective. Sometimes the car runs like a sewing machine. I traded this car yesterday and bought a Toyota. Someday Ford will have to recall the 2012 Focus.

The worst car I have ever owned.
I would never purchase another ford focus 2012. This is the worst car I have ever owned. I have had it in to the shop 4 different times and they continue to tell me that this was a normal thing with the transmission. I feel like I am driving an old car with a clutch that is always slipping... Worst feeling... Sad that you do not want to drive my car...
