Beautiful & Fun to Drive

When I bought my 2012 Ford Focus, I was bit skeptical about a small car from Ford. Soon, I found that I was wrong. I bought a Focus SE in Yellow Blaze tri-coat color with sports package. I can drive this in economy mode or Sports mode. Focus is a very beautiful looking car inside and outside. It is very fun to drive and ride. Engine perfomance, Steering, Braking, Ride and Handling are excellant. Focus is driving well solidly without any hesitation. Ford's Sync is a clever and well thought-out feature. My friends and neighbours like this cool car.

Great car!

I love my new car, I got the Titanium with everything but the navigation. It looks awesome and rides awesome. I was afraid that it would not have the power that I was used to but it really does, along with great gas mileage.

Don't get the automatic

Drove the vehicle for one week and it was an unpleasant experience. Yes the car looks good, yes it gets good gas mileage, yes the engine output is sufficient. The major issue with this car is the automatic transmission. I think what Ford did was attempt to create shifting timing and a gear ratio that was built around fuel efficiency. The result, is an awkward driving experience. Hurky-Jurky would best describe city driving. It gets through the first 3 gears too fast and has poor throttle response. I'm told the 6 speed auto tranny is set up like a manual transmission. And it shifts like it. The first time I drove it I thought there was something wrong with the tranny. The interior materials are nice but the layout is poor. The 12v charger is just in front of the center console. I plugged in a charger to charge my phone and I had to leave the center console door popped open because it wouldn't close with my charger plugged in. On the steering wheel, the radio controls should've been on the left of the steering wheel not the right and the positioning of them was awkward. On the positive side, the 2.0 4cyl was very punchy and once you got on it, it went! Highway cruising was comfortable. The exterior design is definitely a plus. If you really like this car, buy a standard or wait until 2013-2014 when they get the automatic transmission timing corrected.

value car

I had a 2008 focus the 2012 is so totally different. the ride is comfortable handles the road like a sports car. I love the my Key function. I have a tendency to have a heavy foot and the car lets me know when I reach a preset speed.

2012 Ford Focus SEL (Big Guy Little Car)

I now have about 11000 miles on my Focus, and I have to admit there are times I miss my Nissan Altima but they are getting rarer and rarer. The Nissan had a lot of torque for a 4 cylinder but had mediocre fuel economy. That being said the Focus is no slouch, it is very peppy for a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine. And its very very quiet. I drove a demonstrator (Another SEL) I was astounded by how quiet the car is on surface streets at low speeds. Part of this is due to the GDI engine, it runs much leaner and much more efficiently at lower speeds. My Focus has the 301A package, My Ford Touch and Sony HD radio. All in all I Like MFT it did take some getting used, however; I like gadgets and the Focus does not disappoint. I know there has been a lot of negative thoughts about MFT but I like it and with SYNC its even better. Hand free control of you climate control, audio controls and your phone if its Bluetooth equipped. The Highway is where my little Focus shines and is where I give it top marks. It about 80% quieter than my Nissan although there is some engine noise and a bit of road noise, it is not over powering and the ride though firm is smooth. On the highway the GDI engine squeezes an astonishing (Note: I do a LOT of highway driving) 38-46MPG depending on how lead footed I am and how much I use cruise control. My average around town is 36-29MPG again that depends on stop and go traffic and how lead footed I am. Fit and finish on the car is exemplary, I know the car is German designed but it is still put together here. I was expecting to find fit and finish similar to their Mustang which was pretty mediocre. I have to say I was very impressed. Handling is simply amazing, I have read several reviews that state the steering is numb, I have not found that to be true and it corners well and is well planted with little torque steer if any (WELL DONE Ford) thanks to the Torque Vectoring that is standard on the range. Stopping is just and amazing with MASSIVE disk brakes on front and back wheels and with stability control the car is easily controlled in almost any emergency stopping situation. Merging into traffic is easy with a very eager to rev 2 liter GDI inline 4 cylinder. 0-60 has been between 7-8 seconds. The Torque Vectoring keeps the car centered without pulling you to one side or the other under heavy acceleration. While giving you confidence to put the car where you want it. Prior to writing this I was involved with an accident I was struck from behind. I was on and Inter State and was in stop and go traffic. I was stopped at the time and was struck from behind at about 5 mph. His cars front end was damaged moderately. I had to search for my damage, the cosmetic amounted to a couple of scratches on my bumper and a couple of marks on the bumper surround. Ford did the repairs and removed and repainted the bumper and replaced the surround and the impactor bar (the steel support under the bumper that was damaged in the accident. I was more injured than the car was but I do not blame the car for that. In conclusion I am very very satisfied with my purchase and would gladly buy the car again. It is a great car and I thank Ford for listening to the masses and bringing a bit of Europe to America.

Best of the Best

My wife and recently decided to trade for a Ford Focus. Before making our purchase, we shopped around and found the Focus to be the best value. It's styling is untouched within its class in my opinion. Everything about the vehicle appears to be high quality materials, with excellent design. The only reason I marked it down on performance is because of the transmission. I haven't had any mechanical problems with it, but it will take some time to adjust to the feeling of how it shifts. We didn't go with the Corolla because the Focus offers more room for our two kids with booster seats in the back. It came down between the Focus and Cruze, and we liked the styling of the Focus better. Gas mileage is great. I registered an average of 42 miles on a highway trip recently. I also have a better fealing about buying an American made vehicle. Ford has really established a new reputation among the world's car makers. Vehicles like the Fusion being named most dependable vehicle in its class, Ford sticking it out a few years ago without a bail out, and limited recalls. Expect great things from this vehicle.

Ford is back on top

This car is the best ford I have owned! I am an ASE certified mechanic and drive many different cars every day and nothing compares to this focus. The only downside is the sedan styling is ugly and the rear seat folding down as a bench is in practical for a family. This is why I bought hatch, the split folding seat is better with my son in his carseat. The car has had no issues and it's at 12k miles. All I do is oil change by 2500 and never let it go past 3000 and that goes for all cars regardless of make or model
