This vehicle is a very smooth ride. You can set the cruise control at 65 or 70 mph and it will go 350 miles or more on a tank of gas. The stereo sounds great. Both the air conditioner and heater are excellent. The bed liner is a great feature. You can fill the back of the truck and not worry about scratching the paint. This truck is great for carrying dogs in the back. The Supercab feature is nice because you have the extra storage space behind the driver and passenger seats. Also there are 2 fold down seats in the back, ideal for young children. There is a rear window that slides open. This truck looks beautiful after coming out of the car wash and having its wheel rims shined.

I recently bought a used ford ranger edge with 111k miles on it. I got the biggest engine that is offered in the ranger in the form of a 4.0L SOHC V-6. I needed a truck that is reliable, has decent power, and gets decent fuel economy, and the ranger does all of that! Ive had it for about 2 months now and the only things wrong with it is a tear in the seat and a bad door switch which will cause the dome light to be on all the time. It does 0 to 60 in around 8 seconds with an automatic transmission and does around 23 mpg as an average. The ride is nice but a bit more body roll then i would like. The electronic 4wd is nice as you dont have to get out and lock your hubs to use it. Iam not a fan of ABS but with the ranger they dont cut in too quickly and let you roll through a stop sign. Ground clearance might be an issue for some heavy off roading. If you do the occasional fishing or hunting trip or tow or haul once in a while the ranger will be fine for you, but if you want to haul a car trailer to the race track every weekend i would look into something bigger.

My Ranger XLT Extended Cab was purchased new and I now have just over 126K miles on it. I plan on using this vehicle for a long time yet. I have had no major problems or expenses with this truck. I believe in regular oil and filter changes and tire rotations. The 4.0 liter V6 engine is still purring like new and the ride is great. Air conditioning & heater operate great. And no rust is showing after 7 years of ownership (and timely washes & waxes). Overall, I am completely satisfied with this truck and really glad I chose to purchase this vehicle.

140,000 miles and runs like new

by from Statesville, NC on April 15, 2011

This is a great truck! It gets fantastic gas milage and the small V6 has plenty of power. Maintenance costs are low an I have spent very little to maintain it.

Second Ranger as good as the first

My first Ranger was a 1999 XLT super cab that I kept for 6 years and then gave to my father who used it for 2 more. It is now in the hands of his friend and has over 250,000KM on it and the only big work done was a new clutch. Last year I traded my Xterra for a 2001XL, and once again don't regret it. I replaced a sensor in the motor, and the ABS pump went nuts at one point, but overall I've loaded the thing down, I've driven it about 30K Miles in the past 16 months, and she just won't quit on me. Both get about 350Miles to a highway tank, or between 21 and 25 MPG. City milage has been around 17MPG. Nothing special inside them. Stereo, air, manual windows and mirrors... But it is what I need, it hauls a load, it has room for a passenger... Neither of these trucks were 4X4, the first had a 3.0 and the latest a 2.5, and I will probably drive this one until it dies, which I expect to be at least another 3 or 4 years. I will probably give this one to my son, since he would have a limitted ability to carry passengers. Makes for less distractions!

Bought this 2001 edge 2wd in 2005, had 44,000 miles on it. I have replaced the clutch about 4 times and replaced the belt and battery in the past 10 years I've had it. It's driven on a daily basis about 90 miles a day, it now has 340,000 miles on it . It's paid for its self well. Love it!!!!

Almost 70 yr.-old male, bought this 4.0L, 4x4, AT SOHC truck May '15, used, with 157000 miles on it and in good-to-decent condition, mechanically and visually. I checked online reviews for small pickups (wanted a TOYOTA). For thousand$ le$$, this vehicle passed an emissions test (CO) without any $hop time, and out of pocket expense (except for new air filter, just in case). Used it right away to help a friend move out of a 2800sqft, 4 bdrm, 3 car garage home and it performed without a hitch. Transported large and small appliances, yard debris, countless moving boxes, furniture, large potted plants without a problem. All I added was fuel, at 15-17mpg, not great, but I figured, it's a 4WD truck! It's not a daily driver, but whenever I need to, I haul bicycles, Lowe's/HomeDepot, big box-store stuff, anything I want without question or concern. Interior is storage challenged, ride's a bit rough, seat headrests are not adjustable, air flow could be better, rear jumpseats ,on XLT 4-dr model, is laughable (but do-able)! Also have owned the '96 Mazda B2600i (maker of all the Rangers back then) and '85 F150 (new, lease) in my history. Also experienced the "joy/buyer remorse" of three separate Ford vans. I simply enjoy this truck! Would buy again in a heartbeat! Might check out the manual tranny mode (for added mpg), but not well reviewed. Ya don't get much more. Get one if you find a granny/barn "gem." Glenn, thanks.

I've put approx 40,000 miles on the truck (mostly city driving) & have had NO major repairs. Truck has a bumpy ride but this is expected. Another reliable vehicle from Ford. Never had any complaints.
