2008 Hyundai Accent consumer reviews

Lots of leg room even for tall people. I had my car till 135000 miles and it was still going strong. Great little car to own.

I bought the car brand new and in the first month I had to put a brand new battery in it and a new alternator. It has been in the shop more times for heating and ac and in 12yrs I have replaced the battery about 8 times and the alternator 4 times and two years ago I had to get a major repair which coast 2200 for the timing belt and then two days later it was back in the shop for more work on the engine and now I have more engine problems and its been only six month from the timing belt problem and the fact that the accent parts always have to be ordered even by hyundai mechanics.

Every other week something major is falling apart on this sorry excuse of transportation. I've had to sink so much money into this actual junk heap. Alarm goes off randomly, car doesnt lock properly (if at all) and the engine is cheaply made. I wish I'd ought any other car instead. This car has been actual hell.

It has a lot of potential, but there are and were many problems with it. Day after purchase check engine lights started to flicker, and ultimately it shut down in the middle of the street during a red light stop.

This is an adorable little hatchback that drives very well. Despite the age, it is still quick to accelerate and brakes smoothly. Overall the car is quite small, which I prefer for parking, but the trunk still has a good amount of space. There is also a sunroof that is perfect for airflow throughout the car. The only thing it is missing is an aux input, but a new radio system can always be hooked up.

After 145,000 miles, our Accent continues & feels like it should go another 100,000 miles (more?). No work has ever been done on the engine, manual transmission, clutch, muffler, fuel injection, suspension, catalytic converter, etc. The front brakes continue without any problems, altho the rear drum brakes have had work. Because it has a timing belt, the Accent has had its belt changed twice, according to regular maintenance. ALSO, the electronic ignition has been changed twice! No other electronic problems have occurred. Two years ago, I switched to used larger tires to help reduce rpms by 6% at highway speeds & that has worked good, even increasing MPG! Eighteen tanks in a row, last summer were above 40MPG, with one reaching 48MPG! Not bad for an EPA rated 32MPG vehicle. Of course, the larger tires absorb bumps better.... making the Accent seem..... more grown up. The Accent continues as a dependable vehicle & satisfaction with the Accent continues apace. In 2009, one car dealer offered two Accents for a total $14,000!

This car was a GREAT CAR reliable - wise! You Won't regret getting an Accent if you're low on Money! It was NOT a comfortable car to ride in. Every bump you went over, you would KNOW you were going over. The seats felt HARD! I felt like I was sitting on bricks! One day......I hit black ice one day and slid all over!!! I went across a main road 4 times. I hit the guard rails FOUR times! It came out looking like a BOX! The front was pushed in. The sides were pushed in. I could NOT get out of this car. The police came and I had to open the windows to get out of it! BUT!!! I was FINE! IF you saw the car and how it looked after this accident, you'd wonder how ANY COULD get out alive in it!!!! There were 2 troopers and the rescue squad there EXPECTING to see me gone!!! BUT!!! I DID get out of this car ALIVE!!!! AMAZING!!! I had NOT one scratch or bruise on my body! I was checked over thoroughly at the local hospital. Even the next day, I was fine! I NEVER HURT from this accident. Think about this if you want a DECENT car! BUT! REMEMBER that too, b/c the car was TOTALLED to the brim! BUT! I got out FINE!!! It was GREAT on gas! I could go forever on one tank.........

Great little car, 5 speed and a lot of people can't drive stick. Great on gas and fun to drive. Love the soft green color. Being retired It's a perfect fit for me.

I bought my Hyundai Accent new in 2008. Have never had any issues with it other than the brake light switch failing. Hyundai issued the recall for this issue right after mine went out. Still drive it daily and have 150,000 miles on it.

auto surpassed my expectations, convenient, economical, comfortable. At purchase expected less, than received. It is very dynamic on the road, you feel confident even when driving with sharp maneuvers.
