Worst Car I have ever purchased, You be the judge
I have been researching the Hyundai Genesis since it first hit the market and every review I have read has been positive. However, my Genesis 3.8 does not drive the way any review says it should. Here are the details of my experience since the day I purchased the car on 10/12/2009, a week ago. I haven?t had the car in my possession for more than a couple of hours. When I test drove the car there was a vibration that the dealer told me would be fixed with balancing the tires. After the dealer looked at the car in more detail they found two bad tires and replaced them. The dealer then load force balanced the tires and the vibration persisted. The dealer got the Hyundai field engineer involved and apparently there is a TSB for the emergency brake shoes. After replacing the emergency brake shoes per the TSB the vibration persisted. The next step that I am being forced to endure is having the rear end on my car replaced, this will be happening over the next week or two. All that being said Hyundai?s handling of this case is what is totally disappointing and terrible, there response, from top management, is that this kind of thing happens all the time and I should be patient while they attempt to fix my car. It is obvious that Hyundai is not ready for the luxury car market. I would be very cautious if you are going to look at this car.
VERY NICE CAR
The first Hyundai my wife and I have ever owned. Bought a white pearl V6 with dark brown leather and full technology package. Very sharp looking car with plenty of power. A great value for the money. Better sound system, much better navigation system (very user friendly), and bigger trunk than the 2008 BMW 750 LI we bought shortly before this. Also has actual backup camera vs the sensor system in BMW. Doesn't give you the same ride as a BMW 750, but it's also about $50,000 less expensive. Would definitely recommend.
More car than I expected for the money
Visiting in Elgin IL this summer. Saw this black Genesis 3.8 in the showroom. I drove it home. Never have enjoyed an auto like this one. Luxury, comfort, quiet and more. No other luxury auto even comes close to it when it come to price. Great value. Dealer could not find the second key after purchase. After three weeks of phone calls, I was told to purchase one from a another dealer. The closed dealer here in Peoria AZ had one in stock and had ready for my the next morning. The Illinois dealership then resisted paying for it. Situation like that does not help Hunydai's reputation. But, remember the AZ dealership could not have been more helpful even though they did not sell me the auto. My next auto will be a Genesis.
hyundai genesis needs many improvements
Adding to my review of May, the transmission has an abnormal metallic clunking and slapping noise. this has caused the rear end to have some gear play and gear whine. Dealer miss informed me as to cure. Hyundai factory tech had no answers and Hyundai customer service has STIFFED ME. There are no parts or adjustments for the electronic transmission. Dealer?s service manger and Hyundai tech drove a new in stock car and told me this normal for rear drive cars. Limited warranty on most electronic items. There is no timer on the front window defoggers. Windshield washers only spray lower part of windshield. Driver and passenger seats need to have the same features. Sunlight blocks out nav system and rear backup camera. Need larger sun visors with side extensors. No light under hood. Both front seats need more thigh support. Too much road feel and vibration from Dunlop tires causes hard steering. There is a blind spot when passenger seat is all the way back. Need grips on underside of steering wheel
Outstanding car for the money!!
2009 Genesis is better than the Avalon I had previously. Only limit has been the weak radio signals.
Get over the logo and get into this car....
I purchased a 3.8 with tech package about 2 months ago. The tech package is worth the extra money!! The car is fabulous and truly a great bargain. I compared it with a range of cars from a top-of-the-line Accord, Infinity G37, Accura TL, Nissan Maxima, Lexus LS, and BMW 5 series. If money was of no concern, I probably would have purchased a fully loaded Infinity G37x with AWD, but the Genesis fully loaded was much, much less money. WHAT I REALLY LIKE ABOUT THIS CAR: - Fit and finish. The interior is truly luxurious. - Whisper quiet. - An absolutely amazing Lexicon 17 speaker surround sound audio system that is the best I seen/heard in any luxury car. - It still appeals to my frugal side by using regular gas and I get about 23 mpg in mixed driving. - The 3.8 V6 is very peppy and when you kick it in, it will move you fast. - Backseat heat/AC is independent of front seat controls. You can have A/C in front and heat in the back. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: - in some road conditions at slower speeds, the ride is a little more bumpy than I would expect. However, it is not a big deal to me. - Blue tooth integration doesn't import phonebook - Rear seats won't fold down (although trunk is huge and there is a small pass through area) WHAT I WISH IT HAD: - AWD - Adaptive Cruise Control - Auto-retractable side mirrors
Great car for the safety enthusiast~
Eigth air bags Anti-reflective inside/outside mirrors Heavy car with 5 star ratings by NHTSA Have to step on brake to start car
A GREAT Car at Any Price, But WOW for What I Paid!
If it wasn't for the Genesis being named North American Car of the Year, I wouldn't even have considered a Hyundai. I looked at Lexus, Infiniti, Acura & BMW and got all the luxury features I was looking for in these cars in the Genesis for thousands of dollars less. It drives great, with the best brakes I ever experienced. I did get the Tech Package and find it easy to use after I spent a bit of time reading the "quick start" guide. Love the backup camera & the rear sun shade along with a great audio & Nav. system. I would have liked a bit more distinct styling than a Mercedes look a like but mine came with the Genesis winged decals on the hood, trunk and wheels which makes it look VERY cool. I love this car!
Amazing car
This is my 3rd. Hyundai and they keep getting better. I traded in my 2006 Tuscon for a black 2009 Genesis 3.8. I know it seems contrite, but the only thing I am not happy about is the color, black is very difficult to keep clean. Otherwise, the car is awesome! Everywhere I go, folks ask "what kind of car is that?" Anyone who rides in it is amazed at the comfort, room and high level of workmanship and refinement. I might just go for the 4.6 V8.
Awesome Solid Performance
I am almost at a loss for words trying to write a review of our new White Satin Pearl Genesis. I researched and reviewed every review I could get my hands on ever since the Genesis was announced. My wife were Hyundai fans anyway based on our 2006 Sonata V6 experience! This car is awesome the V6 performance is better than expected and fit and finish is as good or better than the snob cars in this class. We have not quite mastered the technology package yet; that is the only warning I have for future buyers - you should be tech savy! We could have spent the extra $20k and drove something with established brand cachet, but why in this economy I am looking for value and the Genesis has bang for the buck! The second and third looks we get at the stop lights is fun too. Highly recommend you at least drive one before you make a decesion to spend more money than you have too.
