If I would of known...

Purchased in March 2020. Battery had to be replaced in March 2022. Only have 11000km and piston coils had to be replaced twice for piston 3 and piston 4, waiting for the other 2 to go! Real lemon.

Questionable

On the highway it can’t get out of its own way yet the transmission acts odd on both highway and rural. Giving it a bit of gas can either put you at a snails pace or 60 mph, something is definitely wrong..I should be in control of that! Not a comfortable ride either. It is economical as far as MPG though. However safely and comfort comes first to us.

Transmission problems

Transmission went out at 18,000 miles. Dealership replaced it. (Thank god for warranties). Now at 40,000 miles the new transmission is beginning to act up just like it did before it went out the last time. Sigh.

Worst in safety due to back seatbelts not working

Uncomfortable and throws itself into overdrive. I regret buying this unsafe vehicle. I have brought it in to have seat belts replaced. Exactly one week later they broke again. I have twin toddlers and this is a threat to their safety

Transmission went out at 19k miles.

My wife brought home this car back from the dealership in January of 2020 brand new. We have the SEL version. I didn’t like it from the start. The power is very poor. It’s too small for tall people (I’m 6’2). The interior is cheap compared to other cars priced at $23k new. It grew on me though because I enjoyed the gas mileage, average around 32mpg. If you want to pass someone on the freeway or the interstate then you’re going to have to time it perfectly because there’s definitely a lag in power. At 19k miles it started to want to over rev instead of getting up and going. We took it to the dealership and they said it was a computer problem that needed an update so they did an update on it. It worked well for about 3 miles after we left then it started to slowly do the same thing again. This time it threw the check engine light on so we drove it back to the dealership going 30mph because that is all that it would go. They kept hooked it back up to their computer and said the transmission is out... in a brand new car with less than 20000 miles. I’m highly disappointed in Hyundai, I’d never owned one in the past because they were known for problems. Recently I had heard their reliability had gone up substantially. My higher expectations based off of other reviews have been left behind though because I see that they are still making garbage.

Am smitten!

Bought this car yesterday and drove home 285 miles against a 25 to 30 mph wind and at 80+ mph (mostly interstate) and got 31 mpg. The trip was non-stop and thoroughly enjoyable. Dealership got my phone set up in Android Auto and my Spotify music sounded WAY better than I had come to expect after reading "professional" reviews of the 6 speaker system. I thought it was more than adequate and the equalization program was good. Seats were more than comfortable, they were also very supportive. I emerged from the car with no TB. I wouldn't have been able to say that with other cars I've owned and some cost much more. Everything about the dashboard layout and Android Auto seemed intuitive. Bought the SEL with comfort and premium package so enjoyed the sun roof, LED lights etc. The ride was controlled, the road noise and wind and engine sound was noticeable at times but at no time was any of it even close to unacceptable or intrusive. I was amazed at how quiet is was in light of a number of paid critics' views that cabin noise is so problematic. Several people commented today that they found the vehicle very attractive and couldn't believe the purchase price. They thought it must have been a much more expensive purchase. I downloaded the Hyundai app and can now read the owner manual on my phone. It also will remotely start the car, score your driving (for your eyes only unless you want them to give it to your insurance company) and perform many more functions including remote locking and provision of vehicle status reports in real time. Your maintenance program reminders and records are also provided. I think this is the most car you can buy for the money. Many safety features are standard on the SEL including lane keeping, blind spot advisories , Auto braking etc. Before you buy a small SUV/Crossover at any price you should do a lot of research. If you do, you will certainly give the Venue a closer inspection. Just because it is very affordable is really no reason to not consider it seriously. BTW, the dealership in Sioux City IA is excellent. You won't believe how beautiful this one is when dressed in Galactic Gray!! Reliability rating is unearned at this point but I am confident that it will be earned.

Extremely small inside.

I don’t like it at all. It’s a 2 person and 1 dog car vs a 4 person car. The back seat is extremely small. I would hate to make an extended trip in this car. The only good thing I can say is it gets good gas mileage.
