Salvages Gem

I bought this car from a salvaged car lot and its been great. Gas mileage isn't the best, but also not the worst. Its very comfortable and stylish (in a very unique way). Only downside is the backseat is a bit small.

Didn't expect engine repair after 27,000 miles

Purchased off the showroom floor. By the second day I realized it was too small and not much comfort due to it being a manual transmission sport model. No bells and whistles, none. But I kept it because it was cute and the 4wd really came in handy. Then one day it stalls out without warning. Just over 3 years old and 27,000 miles and my car will not start! Had to tow to the dealer. Dealership said it is a valve that is not opening properly. Gutted. I never expected it to need repairs so soon. That being said, I am in the process of trading it in for a Dodge Journey that has all the bells and whistles that my Renegade Sport lacked.

FUN AND FEISTY

This Jeep is just right for me. My kids are grown so I don't need nor want a big vehicle. I find that I still have ample room for passengers, groceries and packages. It has a great sound system and is comfy in winter and summer. I have not had any issues with this car.

Unreliable

Super cute but I have had nothing but problems with it! In the 3 years I’ve had it I have had to replace the thermostat twice, the battery, the cooling fan, and the throttle body. Not impressed at all with all the repairs. I would never buy another one.

Good choice for young adult

The Renegade Sport is stylish enough for my daughter’s first financed auto, it’s also the right size for her. She’s <5 feet tall and feels lost in a Wrangler. Has the Bluetooth and remote/push button start and the gas mileage is good for a SUV. She’s wanted a Jeep for a couple of years and now she’s there!

Great Car

I had absolutely zero issues with this car. I wish I could keep it forever. I used it mainly for long road trips and simple commuting. Very comfortable and always reliable.

Perfect, except one small issue

I’ve had this vehicle for 3 years 2 months and 9 days and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with it. People complain about this and that, that it’s not a Jeep, that it’s unreliable... the only issue that I’ve ever had with it was last summer the air conditioning stopped blowing ice cold air (essential in the desert). Took it to the dealership to have them look at it, they couldn’t find the issue, flushed the AC system, refilled it and it’s been fine ever since. My lease is up and I’m picking up my 2019 this week. It’s fun to drive, it’s got a ton of leg room for driver and front seat passenger, not so much for the backseat, but if you have small friends, it’s fine, there’s a lot of headroom and the interior is very roomy, the outside is deceptively small, measuring at about 6’x13’, the inside seems like it’s a penthouse apartment. Test drive other vehicles before falling in love with my Renegade, test drive more and decided to stick with it. I’m in western NY now and had a decent snow storm last night and it handled well (empty) in the icy roads. The remote start is a must!

Nice car but..........

Its a fun car to drive However, they do come with a problem ( its some kind of modular) that will make the car die when driving more then 50 MPH. Been there .... not fun at all. Protection Plans from dealers will not cover that .....

Not a Jeep Anymore

I’ve owned quite a few Jeeps after 1/2 a century on this earth. Square Body Cherokee Sports, CJ5s, 7s and 8s, a new model Cherokee and the Renegade. At first sight I was attracted to this little Jeep for its styling and details. They made a great backstory on it and gave it personality. I drove a friends and liked it so much that I traded in my 2017 Cherokee for it. Big Mistake. It was like going 10 steps backwards rather than forward. Poor rearward and forward visibility obstructed by a thick A-Pillar and small side windows. Its a front wheel drive ‘CAR’ with as needed power to the rear wheels. All 4 wheels ride on an A-Arm set up with coil over shocks and CV Joint axles. while there’s that nifty turn dial for different levels of ‘off-road’ trails, neither made a difference. Lastly. It’s NOT A JEEP. ITS A FIAT. Built in Italy. There is nothing Jeep about this. Not Overland. Not Toledo. Not the American Designed and Built Icon that we all know.

Fun to drive but dog of an engine

Pretty vanilla interior, good leg room in front, tight in back. Good entertainment features, pretty nimble handling, but engine performance is pretty poor. Below average acceleration & very bad response delay when getting back on the gas. Otherwise, neat little car that handles well in the snow.
