Exactly the jeep I was looking for.
Jeep's have a great track record. I wanted a reliable car that would hold its value. It took awhile to find because it's very rare. Wouldn't have found it without Cars.com.

You either like a Jeep or you're wrong
Jeeps are not for everyone!! Jeeps are not for most people!! And that includes the grocery-getters nearly as much as the Wrangler variants. If however, Wranglers are for you, there is nothing better. Even new, my Rubicon was unrefined in ride and interior amenities. Don't by a Wrangler if you need comfort and all the modern whizz-bang gadgets. Jump in, put your seat belt on and go until the grin hurts your face. Interstates, congested city streets, carpooling with the boss - the Wrangler will do all of these well enough, but it is built for small town commuting and backwoods exploring. Whatever you want to do to customize or personalize your Jeep, there is a glut of engineered options for you and since the platform is so user-friendly, almost anyone can perform almost all of those modifications on their own. If you want a convertible, buy a Miata. If you want a sports car that is designed to go slow - through or over most terrain, buy a Wrangler.

Why did I wait this long
After thinking about buying a Wrangler for several years I finally just did it. I decided on a TJ model since I had had great luck with the 4 Liter I6 in a previous Cherokee. It has been a delight thus far. Just plain fun to drive, so much so that I find my self looking for reasons to have to drive it somewhere. I owned a CJ5 many years ago and the wrangler is a vastly superior vehicle while retaining the things that made the old CJ so much fun. Perhaps the greatest thing about it is how much my grandkids now hold me in awe. The Wrangler is an extremely simple machine which is part of its charm for me; no pretense of being practical in any way at all. For the first time in several decades I find myself waving at and being waved at by other (Wrangler) drivers. I love the feeling of wanting to drive over something just because I can. I had forgotten how nice it is to own a car that I can just roll underneath to work on something without jacking it up, that has easy working access to everthing uunder the hood, that I can just figure out how something works just by looking at it, that I can clean out by removing the drain plugs and just hosing it out, that actually encourages me to take the doors completely off in about 60 seconds and leave them in the garage where doors belong on a nice day, etc etc etc. Buy one of these things and remember why a car can be fun and still get you from A to B.

2003 Rubicon Great Fun Rig
Just bought this Jeeo a few months ago and I can tell you I love it. If your looking for gas mileage, forget it. Mine gets about 10 miles to the gallon, but I didn't buy it for gas mileage, I bought it as a offroad toy and it lives up to that and more. This thing will go just about anywhere, very fun to drive but nothing cushy. It is what it is, very nimble and easy to park or turn around on a dime. I would recommend anyone thinking about buying one, to drive one first. I didn't and was surprised buy how it felt at first. I get alot of attention in it, and lots of people seem to like the way it looks. 36 inch tires and a lift kit, winch on the front and I am ready for just about anything. Hope this might help others who are thinking of purchasing a Jeep.

2003 Jeep Wrangler
Well i have come to realize that Jeep Wranglesr aren't for everybody. Like a car salesman told me the other day, most people want a Jeep till they own one. They are just not a practical vehicle for everyday driving. That being said i am a truck guy. In fact i traded a truck for my 2003 Wrangler. I made mistake & i am in the process of trading my Jeep to another truck. I haven't even made my first payment yet. Don't get me wrong Wranglers have their place but just not in my driveway. A Jeep Wrangler would be a great weekend or winter driver but a 4x4 truck is just so much better as a whole.
