I’ve owned this for 2.

I’ve owned this for 2.5 years, I bought it because it was as jeep and allowed me to drive it in electric mode. Few problems. I drive it almost exclusively in electric mode. Yes, there are times when electric is unavailable but that is due to not putting gas in for a long time. Once I even put in 2-3 gals. good to go.

Buyer beware - you were warned!

Great idea, poor execution. If you're looking for a vehicle that pops CEL's like candy and is tethered to the dealer for long term repairs, this might be the car for you. The PHEV battery recall and failure is the best feature of this vehicle, as who doesn't want a car that doesn't operate as it's supposed to and could catch on fire at anytime. I love driving mine when it works right, but that feeling goes away when the familiar friend arrives to spoil your day (CEL). Thankfully the 2021 has a 100k warranty on the hybrid system you will need it. This is a definite DO NOT BUY! It doesn't hold any residual value as no one wants them. @Jeep, do better!!

Not Dependable

Vehicle has been to the shop 3 times for multiple days each time. Issues related to battery and charging and sensors on locking differential. Additionally, the shift from Electric to Gas and back is clunky and the engine is very noisy and un-refined sounding. We bought the car thinking it would save some commuting cost with the better fuel economy. Unfortunately, a commuter vehicle also needs to be reliable. The 4XE is not reliable! Neat idea, just not ready for prime time! Don't be an early adopter, they are just pushing tech out as fast as possible, before it's been fully testes and proven.

Loved the rig, but be cautious of issues

Bought my first Jeep 4xe this year and I have had to take it in to dealer three times with engine light issues and now for two months it wont go into electric mode, at all! Loved this vehicle when I initially purchased it, "even though my order got messed up twice and I ended up with a color I did not select' . Had to take what they got and still loved the car minus the hurdles. Seriously concerned now as two weeks ago I asked to get this rig fixed and they are still delayed on repairs and even loner in the meantime. Honestly not sure where to go from here as I have had a non working vehicle for two weeks now, lots of issues, and there is nothing the dealer can do at this point is what they are telling me....

Like the new 4xe much more than gas Rubicon

There is a lot of new technology working together in this car so i recommend a extended service plan. That being said this hybrid Wrangler has more power, quieter (got hard top insulation), and smoother riding (I have a Sahara High Altitute) than the Rubicon ICE previously owned. So far at 19k miles no mechanical issues.

I had great expectations - got a lemon

I had great expectations - unfortunately I got a lemon after waiting 3 months from my custom order. In the 12 month of ownership, it spend 8 months in service without loaner, and I've spend $12,000 (will be reimbursed) on rental cars. Overall it's much much better than a regular gas version for daily commute, city driving, and gets "awesome" MPG on roadtrips - around 22-23 mpg from my Rubicon while a gas version is lot less. Sadly it's not very reliable, parts are non existent for this Jeep. Similar to other Wranglers, it's not comfortable, noisy loud. But the premium audio is awesome.

Summer EV

My summer EV. As soon as temps dropped below 40, the car would only use the engine and display error messages. Was at the dealership seven (7) times in 11 months, every time because of the engine. At some point, I became too annoyed with all the technical problems and the overly busy drivetrain that I sold the car. I discount it as my Covid mistake. Go for the V6 engine.

EV Scam. Broken for 6 months.

EV Battery mode completely broken and JEEP knows and refuses to fix it. They are running a scam and it's all out in broad daylight. Just google the problem and I promise you that the board light up! Been to shop 5x? No working solution to fix. It's now 70 degrees out and all of sudden the engine starts running without warning and EV mode is completely disabled. Message warning: Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable OR Electric Mode Unavailable Cabin Cooling or Heating. Don't buy this car until you hear about a recall or lawsuit!

Great Concept - Terrible Execution! AVOID!!

Hands-down the least reliable vehicle I have ever owned. If you live in colder climates such as the upper midwest - good luck in the winter. A person spends a ton of money on a PHEV thinking that it will actually, you know, RUN in electric mode. Ha! Not this vehicle! When it gets cold it refuses to go into electric mode. You can't override it. Numerous times in the shop and the answer is, "Oh. That's how it's supposed to work." So no mention of it not being able to be driven in electric mode in the winter in all of the advertising? No talk of, "Hey! for at least three months of the year you can't use the electric mode AT ALL!" Thanks, Jeep. List of failures I've had in the nine months I've owned: the information screen died. No backup camera. No lines on backup camera. The transmission lines blew out on the highway causing the vehicle to die and had to pull over and be towed. The electrical port recall. And now I'm toting 800 lbs of useless batteries all around town in gas-only mode because that's how they designed it?!? Thinking of buying one? Get used to seeing the "Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable" message if you live anywhere where its cold. The marketing of the vehicle is extremely deceptive. Jeep acknowledges it's an issue but are unwilling to resolve it. While it should be Jeep's answer to fuel efficiency married to fun and heritage - it is not. They know that it won't run in electric mode in the cold and want consumers to eat all the extra upfront costs of PHEVs and not say a word about not actually being able to use it. Basically, you get a 4 cylinder turbo with the added benefit of hauling around a useless, heavy battery bank.
