Great car overall!
I’m in love with this car. I love the features with my EX trim. Heated/cooled seats. Sunroof and wood grain interior. The only issue I have is I’ve never owned a car with CVT. It feels a bit odd at times compared to my previous cars. But anything is better than dealing with Ford’s DCT.

Go see Dave S for all your car needs. Love there w
Worked with Dave S. Went in thinking I would not get approved on a car. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions that I had. I highly recommend Dave.

Recalls
I would recommend the Kia K 5 but before looking to buy one , check all recalls. I bought my K 5 July 2021 and had no issue with it until yesterday April 26, 2023. My car steering and brakes went as I was going around a turn. Thank god all traffic stopped for me and I was able to stop the car with the emergency brake. I looked up recalls today and saw that there was a recall on my K5 June 2021 on the steering and power train. I never got anything in the mail about this or was told when buying the car. Now they want me to pay for my own rental while they work on my car. I am now calling Kia USA on this issue. I really don't want a car back that has issues like this because it scary to drive thinking it might happen again on the high way with my daughter or someone else in the car. They should give me a New different Kia that does not have any recalls. I paid a lot for this car and should be compensated at least for the rental.

Great Car
I bought it brand new in October of 2020. Ironically I had planned to trade my 2017 Optima for a new Toyota Camry, but the dealer didn't have any, and sales were out 4 months! This was COVID and Toyota was clearly further behind than Kia. So, I ended up with a new K5 and couldn't be happier. The car accelerates like a dream which is what I needed living just off an Interstate I'm on almost daily. I love the large video screen and Apple Car Play. My only concern is it sits low to the ground like a sports car, but I'm getting older and it makes it a little difficult to get in and out of. Also, when parking you have to be aware of curbs and parking stops as the front end is also low and won't clear some obstacles. But, I love the car overall and plan to keep it for a few more years. I may never own a Camry now.

1st model qwerk(s) - know before you buy the 2021
I'd recommend Kia for sure, but probably not this first year K5 model. To start, the passenger seat back cover came off the first week I purchased it (brand new, 150 miles) and it's been 2 years and still no part through my dealership! Second, the "safety" feature where the car automatically slams on the breaks if it senses there's a car nearby is terrible!! My family and I park in a long drive way and I have to pass cars while backing out. EVERY DAY, while going 1 to 4 mph backing up, the car slams on the break and scares me to death! And same if it senses a car coming down my street, and I'm clearly not going to pull in front of it, the car will jolt and make the most god awful sound. And don't get me started on Apple Car Play. I've asked my dealership why my radio has a mind of it's own (sometimes it won't connect to Apple Car Play but my wifi and Bluetooth are connected, and, sometimes while playing Apple Car Play it will just auto-switch to Radio! It's nuts). But it's my 3rd Kia, my least favorite of the three (two new Optimas before that) BUT still an overall good car! I didn't splurge for all the fancy stuff my last two cars had (seat & steering wheel heater) to keep it at my target price. But some days I wish I would have.

KIA TRIP
No issues whatsoever. Just came back from a trip and got 41 mpg at an average of 75 mph. I would only suggest a better soundsystem for this model.

Feelings change after 1.5 years
I remember when I first purchased my vehicle I left an astounding review it was amazing fantastic I loved it so much. Which is probably around the time that everyone else left their reviews but now after having my vehicle 1.5 years, things changed now tell you there have been so many problems. Starting about 5 months after I purchased the vehicle with Just a roller coaster ride of problems starting with a knocking noise from the engine, sticks in high revving at points, back up camera blinking out of control like a rave. Air sealers around theDoors windows are very poorly installed because you hear a Highwind when you’re driving at high speeds on the freeway I kept thinking a window was open and there’s never a window open. Also the sound system is not great. And from the inflatable pillow in my seat something happened to that and I keep hearing a ticking noise in the back as if someone was kicking the backseat and it bumps a little bit towards the back. Also after only having a vehicle for about four months the side paneling that is plastic material between the windows already completely faded. It looks super cool And got to give it to them it is fast but don’t fall for the looks. It’s really fun to drive but not with all of the issue is not a good long-term car.

AFTER RENTING ONE BY MISTAKE, I AM BUYING ONE!
I reserved a Camry for a 7 day rental and got a fairly beat up K5...WHAT A GREAT CAR! Driving 55 I got over 60 mpg, and driving 80 with the a/c on high, 2 adults and 3 kids, it still got 48mpg. It is super quiet with a smooth ride. The seats in this base model were very comfortable. With 26,000 miles, in 2000 miles of driving, it didn't use any oil. I AM BUYING ONE for myself. This is an awesome car.

Kia car rental customer
I have owned 14 Honda Accords and love them, but recently on vacation I rented a Kia K5 for two weeks, drove 1500 miles, city and highway. What an awesome car, super comfortable, responsive, plenty of power and great mileage. My next car, I will definitely be looking at the Kia line first.

Value, value, value
Unbelievable gas mileage on this car. Getting 35mpg in the city and 50+ on the highway. Still, a very quick car. In addition, it's comfortable and quiet. Using it in a ride share situation so it gets plenty of wear and tear. Holding far better then my old Honda Accord.
