Walk away from the car

We have had this car for 3 months and we’ve had to take it back for a second time! The stupid car keeps going into limp mode with the check engine light on and the car not going over 40 mph. We use this car for work and getting the kids to school. Today I was driving with my 8 month old and the car did it yet again while in a 75 mph zone it dropped to 40 on a highway. Someone could get seriously hurt.

We love the car but one major flaw.

We love our 2020 Optima. So much for the $$. Good size, ride, and ample features including safety for the money. 2nd owner and my daughters commute to college at 34-35 mpg which is good for this size car. Unfortunately too many have engine failure with 2.4L (8-10k replacement) and nearing 60k warranty end I'm going to trade for a Honda or Toyota rather than roll the dice. A shame they can't provide a bulletproof engine with an otherwise awesome car!!

Beautiful Car!

I got the 2020 KIA Optima S trim. The car is great! This is my first car and the safety features helps me out a lot. The backup camera works really well thankfully because I can’t see see anything out the back window lol. I’m in the military so I drive her around a little more often than usual. The car holds up well. The car is very comfortable as well I drive her back home (15hrs) and have no issues at all. The fuel economy is great as well get around 530 miles on a full tank. The car is not a race car so I wouldn’t expect that kind of performance. That being said she is pretty fast and handles great! I got mine in 2021 for about $24k with around 23k miles on it. For the money I’d definitely say it’s worth it.

It's what's on the inside that counts

The Kia would not start..repair shop in Waldorf replaced the starter relay..vehicle worked for 2 days returned for repair..kia repair shop said it was the battery(I had a new battery in but the Kia Mechanic said it was not strong enough) bought a new battery from Kia of Waldorf..vehicle worked for 1 day returned to kia repair shop then they Said it was the starter. This so far has cost me over $1,000 paid to Kia in Waldorf MD. I would NEVER buy another Kia...going to Honda to shop and pray that I can get a reasonable trade-in price for this horrible nice looking car. It's not whats on the outside but what's on the inside that counts.

Great car! Handles wonderful!

Loved the Optima after upgrading from a Forte due to highway issues with it. Lots of room, dashboard has all the bells & whistles you could want. Quick pickup, gas mileage is great if you aren't using the A/C which burns gas fast. It's a great car and I loved it! Unfortunately turning it in after nearly 3 years due to mechanical issues. Battery went after 1 year of use, starter just went on it 2 days ago, collision warning system keeps shutting down while just driving with error message. Everything was covered under warranty, but I never had these fast problems with my Toyota's. Trading it in tomorrow for something else. Plus they did away with the Optima line.

Great car, OEM tires are junk

Leased new, car is very comfortable. HUGE ISSUE with Nexin OEM tires. Had to replace all 4 tires after 13500 miles due to wear. Dealer would not replace until I purchased new tires. OEM tires were rated at 70,000 miles and Nexin company offered Sox $143.00 total toward new ones. Replaced with ANOTHER BRAND TIRE,cost apx $800.00

Wanted a good commuter car - that's what this is

Plenty of legroom (I'm 6'4"). Reasonably quick and good handling, of course it's not a sports car. Gas mileage 31-32 on my commute, 35-36 on the interstate at 75 mph. Probably the best value in this size class, I didn't see any need to pay the premium for a Honda or Toyota.

My First Car And It Was Worth It!

Honestly I didn't want a kia optima but my budget could only afford it, 2016 kia optima was my first car and I loved it and saved me lots of money on gas a maintenance for 3 years.
