I recently purchased this car and i have 176 000

2000 ,4cyl 176,446 on My engine and tranny , but work fine but i have the check engine light on and i believe its the air intake leak , the connecting hose has holes and when i cover the hose the engine sounds to regain the power lost by the leak, but i just bought this car for 500 dollors and i drove 30 miles on the high way and threw town in busy traffic so stopping and going amd she chugged along just fine and the serpentine belt squells but once the car warms it stops i believe i just need to clean pullys and grease the belt or just buy another belt but either way for 500 bucks and probably 50 bucks to fix the issues i think its a xxxxing lie when i hear people on here saying at like 68,000 milesthe tranny and engine dying on people but if you really treat your vehicle good it will do the same

17 years later...Still good and durable

This car is amazing! 3 owners and Betsy is still a mean green machine! This is by far one of the lasting models of cars on the planet! My family enjoyed the luxury of a smooth ride and ,we had it easy on the pockets for gas! We now have a new model ! So hats off to Mazda!

Not most reliable car I have owned.

This car is super comfortable with a nice looking exterior and interior, but it has been unreliable for me from the get go. It was nice when it worked well on occasion, but I have had to replace a lot already after only owning it for six months so after doing everything I can do, I am selling it. This car also now has a blown head gasket and needs harness wiring repaired underneath stereo.

Great Economical Car

I purchased a used 2000 626 at 180,000 miles, and plan to drive it for another 10-20,000 miles. It's a really pleasant car to drive, and needed only routine repairs in it's lengthy life so far: exhaust and muffler work, oil and transmission fluid changes, and the occasional tune up left this car in decent running condition. I've never had another car with oscillating air vents, or that shifts into second and third gear with quite so much gusto. The fuel efficiency doesn't really compare to a more modern vehicle, but I can usually get a 280-300 miles to the 12 gallon tank, which is pretty decent. One item to note is that the headliner tends to fall down in this model of vehicle, and needs to be re-glued. I've seen this in two examples of the 626 so far. All in all it's a decent road runner, and these days should be available for well under 3000 dollars used.

I like this car

My first car was a 1998 Mazda 626. It made it to over 222,000 Miles Before the transmission failed. How I have the same car, but a little newer. No, it is not Very powerful necessarily. However, it rides fairly smooth, is spacious enough for my liking, LOOKS nice and presentable, and overall is a great car.

Not so reliable.

I have own this car for about three years now, and had really bad headaches with this car. When I brought the vehicle, it had around 68,000 miles on it and I'll drive 20,000 in the last three years. In that timeframe, I had to replaces/repair the A/C compressor, engine oil leaks, alternator, and radiator. So the reliability is not so good in the high miles area. But it has its pros and cons. PROS -very comfortable -Price is reasonable -Boss system is very good -Good gas miles CONS -Not Reliability -Speed is not so great -Runs high on RPMs -Performance is low

Amazing Vehicle for the Price

This car is amazing for short. There is a little more road noise than expected. This is my first vehicle and I absolutely love it. I drive it to school, work, and home everday. I only have to fill it up about once a week. Overall, i would recommend this car to a first time driver.
