Don't let negative reviews of the RX-8 fool you.

The fun part about this car is the really high redline. If this is the first time you've owned a rotary, I highly recommend that YOU DON'T shift the car at 2,000 RPM. This car is meant for really high shift points. With that in mind, always check your oil. Why? Because the motor uses the oil to lubricate the internals. That's just a minor setback. I have the leather interior, and the theme is black/grey with royalty symbols here and there. The seats do keep you in place when taking high speed turns. Gas wise... well, let's just say that if you're having fun and love to throttle a car hard and go fast.. This is that car. Also, after every refuel (me I just go full tank all the time), drive it as hard as you can. It's just something that helps maintain the motor. You can find out why in a lot of the forums.

Fun Car To Drive But...

Mazda RX8 is a very unique car due to the rotary engine. It is a fun car to drive but not the fastest, I'll say it is a good learning car. But for some they hate it because of the fuel cost. I love every bit of it even though the fuel consumption on this car is like driving a v8 engine. You'll be lucky enough to squeeze 22mpg on the highway. But aside from all that, this car is really good at corners, sharp turns, unique design, and the redline is 9000 rpm. You will hear the engine roar and push it pass 9k and still won't blow your engine. I love this car.

Worst money pit ever bought

Bought 2005 6spd with 80K on it. Car handles very well. Changed oil every 3000mi. Clutch bracket assembly went twice rendering the car immobile. Car claims 240ish HP but it extremely low torque which makes it useless. All show no go. Engine is prone to flooding. I got my Rx-8 up to 120K mi before they told me the engine needed to be replaced. Had I known that the renesis engine only lasted for 120K or even less in some cases I never would have but the worthless car.

Stay away unless you want to baby it

I had my 2005 RX-8 for 7 years and had more problems with it than with any other car I've had in 40 years. It was the snazziest car, but the most unreliable. There were major engine problems to the point I had to get a new engine (glad it was covered), but before they would cover the engine, I had to pay thousands of dollars for several other possible fixes first. After the engine replacement, yet another problem occurred with the engine and this time it was a $1000 tiny part UNDER the engine that wasn't covered. That was enough. This is a fun, beautiful car with a bad engine that I wish I'd never laid eyes on.

Great car!

Great car! Bought used but held up very nicely. You just need to know a little bit about a rotary engine so you don't blow it up. But it's not that hard. It's a fun car for an awesome price! And the hidden suicide doors in the back are an amazing little suprise. You can't tell from the outside that there are 4 doors but much easier getting people in the back without having to get out of the car everytime. Very useful! Love this car!!

Buy new! Not used!

This car is awesome if bought new and taken care of. But i will only say this once, DO NOT BUY USED!!!! This car has alot of specail needs becouse of the rotary engine. Most people do not take care of the car and sell them allready abused (engine wise). Half of the rx8's had their engine replaced which cost 10k. Most of them are coverd by warrenty. If u buy used then u are screwed. Or dont pay over 8k for a used one.

This car rocks

60,000 miles and completely reliable. A blast to drive and it seats 4 adults. There are a few quarks to the care and feeding of the RX8, like never shut it down cold and drive it like you stole it. Follow these simple important guidelines and the car is as trouble free as any I've owned. Could use a few more ponies, but that it a small negative compared to all the benefits. Very comfortable ride and handles like an Indy car.
