Best car I?ve ever owned

This car is amazing. I own the 6 speed M/T. It?s very sporty and has a lot of power for how light the car is. It?s very reliable and not too expensive to maintain.

Love!

This car has serious power and good looks. Very reliable so far too! The leather is beautiful and lots of bells and whistles. We are even considering a second one. Zoom-Zoom

I wouldn't recommend it

It was a very fun car to drive. I bought my with 64 thousand miles. I replaced the ignition coils spark plugs wires and spark plugs. Air filter and new brake pads front and rear. Aways gave it oil changed when it was needed and kept oil level where it should be. The engine blew at 96 thousand miles. Mazda would not even consider any kind of warranty. I would just stay away from Mazda altogether now

Fun daily driver

This car nearly meets all of my needs. Fun, reliable, stylish, roomy enough for kid shuttling. Just not roomy enough for family of 4 road trip.

1 of the few cars left with unique styling

The last production car with a rotary engine, it's so sad but the RX-8 went out with style. A unique body style with a one of a kind look, it turns heads everywhere. Smooth running engine that could be super quiet if left stock or can scream with the right parts and tuning. Yes it sucks in the snow, its a RWD sports car, yet it has 4 doors and can seat 4 almost comfortably. But who cares? It's so much fun to drive! Redline at almost 10k RPM, oh yesss. Worst part about the car is the fact that they stopped producing it. And it floods if you shut it off before it warms up, small price to pay for such a unique machine.

Stylish Car

Nice looking car with high RPM performance in the rotary engine with a sun roof to enjoy the beautiful spring days! Mazda should bring back the RX's.

Great little sports car, with outstanding price.

Tough to beat the money to performance value for my recently purchased 2007 Mazda RX-8. The rotary engine is silky smooth with no noticeable vibration through 8,500 rpm. Yes, I said 8,500 rpm! This car doesn't hit the power band until about 4,500 rpm and then she takes off. My son says the handling is like a video game car with the balanced 50/50 ratio front to back. There's solid room for four people and even a little luggage space. A few idiosyncrasies related to the rotary engine: uses conventional oil only and burns a little bit as part of normal operation so they recommend topping off every other fuel up. If you start her up cold, you must run for 5 minutes or take her for a drive (in other words if you're moving her out of the garage to wash her). And she uses premium gasoline (although the RX-8 club website has a number of folks who have said they've run with no problem on 87 octane fuel). Great car for the money! You won't be disappointed.

best fo both worlds

I owned a 1981 RX-7 in the mid eighties and I had to sell it to save money to build my first home. I have missed that car for 20 years. I have had my eye on the RX-8 for a few years now and finally (with some urging from my wife) decided to purchase one. I searched the country for the right combination of mileage, year, color, options and price finally purchasing a 2007 Grand Touring model in phantom blue mica color with 7300 miles. I love this car, it handles much better than the RX-7. I think it looks more aggresive and the rotary engine is silky smooth right up to the redline. These cars are not for everyone for sure. They have some special maintenance requirements that normal pushrod engines don't need. But it is all worthwhile once you slide behind the wheel and fire up that beautiful Renesis wankel engine. It would be a shame if Mazda didn't continue the rotary program once the RX-8 is phased out.

Zoom Zoom

It is a great car to own and I get compliments on it all the time. I live in a area where the roads have a lot of curves and it is performs better than any other car I have owned. Its fun to drive and looks great. The gas mileage isn't very good at all. If you drive pretty chill and keep the RPMs below 4 grand expect to get around 17 miles to the gallon but if you get out and play you'll get around 13. Other than gas mileage its a great car to own and a joy to drive.
