2009 CLK200 - Fun car combined with luxury driving

Bought a 12 year old 2009 CLK 200 coupe petrol with 100K on the clock. Styling is sleek Driving, on cold engine the gearbox likes to hold onto the lower gears longer than I would like and I am told it does this to warm up the catalytic converter quickly. I don’t like that feature because if your a little heavy on the accelerator then your going to red line it on cold. To offset this I drive in Comfort mode and very light on the accelerator until warm. Short trips is not great on petrol especially if your engine doesn’t warm right up you will notice your mpg going below 20mpg easily if you are heavy on the accelerator. Long motorway journeys this car comes into its own and is an absolute pleasure to drive, smooth as silk and loads of acceleration power when you need it, it will absolutely blast off brilliantly on motorway driving so watch that speedo because you will very quickly shoot way past the speed limit. Will get 30-36mpg on motorway driving. Engine is very quiet and it does stand up to some really hard driving. Interior. Is comfortable and I’m 6,1 and 108 kilos and it fits me well. The only layout I don’t like is the placement of the window switches on the drivers side, why they didn’t put them by the gear lever I don’t know. Engine is quiet and the supercharger makes a nice noise when you put your foot down. I have found this car very easy to service myself, as with any car the more good quality oil changes the better. Plenty of good examples out there to buy even though the years are now ticking by you can find some great ones out there. Fun car combined with luxury driving.

performance and luxury

we have owned 31 vehicles ( still have 3 Benz) mostly european luxury & sports. Our CLK is a 2009 cabrio with AMG pkg. This is the most satisfying to drive. solid , quiet , smooth & fast. We've driven 400 km with top down in great comfort.

Finest car I have ever owned!

My Mercedes Benz CLK 550 is by far the finest car I have ever owned. At eleven years old, it is better than any new car I ever had, and I've had several!

Great vehicle.

The 5.5 litre engine is incredible. If you want a fun and sporty convertible, look no further. I had a 350 and it was great, too. But, nothing beats a V8. Get one while they are still available.

Most reliabl car i ever owned

This car has it all sports, comfort, luxury and a family car despite being a coupe. Excellent visibility as it does not have B pillar and almost no blind spot. It is the only coupe with back side windows rolls down

Incredible Car. Most fun I’ve ever owned.

Mercedes and AMG have a special synergy. This car is no exception. The CLK 550 with the AMG Sport Package is one of the most satisfying coupes to drive of its age. The power, handling, looks and comfort all combine to make this car one heck of a value for the money.

My second favorite Mercedes Benz

The 2009 Mercedes Benz CLK 550 is a head turner with plenty of attitude under the hood. With 381 horsepower the CLK 550 is plenty powerful enough to plant you into your leather seats nicely. It handles extremely well and provides a comfortable ride as well. The interior is well thought out and has the ergonomic qualities that I look for in a luxury car. However, with a push of a button, ending the traction control, the car turns into a beast that requires some deft driving to maintain control. With nearly 400 horsepower and nearly 400 lb/ft of torque the car can easily overwhelm a novice driver. The traction control button is there for a reason and unless you have had some driving schools teaching you to drive such a car I would suggest leaving the traction control button alone. I must say that I've had some issues with reliability with this car. The convertible top controls do not work and neither does the trunk. After replacing the hydraulic pump the top still does not work, which is very disappointing. Also, the Mercedes Benz dealer has been of little assistance in fixing the problems with the top. Their solution was a $3500 new top, which is unacceptable to me. On the other hand, not being able to use the convertible top is not such a big deal to me and I enjoy driving the car regardless. Since I live in a state that actually has a winter season I should let you know that Mercedes has figured out how to build a car that is comfortable in winter even with a convertible top. The car is nice and toasty on the inside, even when winter temperatures are in the low teens, so kudos for German engineering on that note. All in all I love this car and would recommend it to anyone that likes a beautiful car that has lots of power and amenities. I would definitely buy another one, although this time I would buy a coupe! LOL!
