1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class consumer reviews

My only problem is that I have major road noise over 40 mph. Is there any sound dampening that I could do? I purchased a mint 99 SLK 230 Kompressor as a cute beach car and love it other than the defending noise. I have driven Mercedes since 1985.

I have a SLK230 since 1999. Drove it from WA state to California on Highway 1 multiple times. I also drive it every weekend for trips to nearby towns and during the week to get a coffee. It is a great little car with a bit odd engine sound, but it has been going on without an issue forever.

owned since May 2022. Great car. Stick shift. Runs like a top. 75k now. Bought at 70k. Sturdy feel. Retractable top works like a charm..

This car was my happiness but it burned along with my home and town of paradise I miss it more than I thought possible I was left with no home town girlfriend job or ride I miss Janice the most my mercedes pretty xxxxed up huh?

A very fun car to drive and you miss it if you don't drive it almost every day. The car is the most reliable car I have had in many years. and was easy for me to do my own maintenance on. Bought this car when it had 100,000 miles on it. I have owned this car for 7 years.

Car handles superbly on corners at speed. Responsive powerful motor. All the luxuries along with a fantastic retractable hard top. Perfect for weekend getaway or car rally.

These things are cheap for what you get! Supercharged roadster with excellent handling, hardtop convertible, comfortable leather and dual climate control. I've been daily driving one for several years now, in Oregon where it rains half the time, which I was hesitant about at first but have never had a problem with the roof. I have the AMG sport model and it is one of the most fun cars I've driven. I'm 6'2" and fit ok. It has required a bit of wrenching, basic maintenance & a few relays, so Scotty Kilmer was wrong about this one. It's more fun to drive than the MX-5, and no gremlins like the Boxster seals.. only thing to do is put a plastic bag over the PSE (computer encased in foam in the right rear quarter panel) or water may eventually kill it.

I owned a R170 1999 Mercedes SLK230 Kompressor. I purchased this car with 91,500 miles on it for $5100 and I think that was the best auto buying decision I've made in a long time, I kept the car for 1 year and 8,000 miles and didnt have a single problem! Not 1 thing! The biggest issue I had with the car was the Dated electronics and styling. Inside and out the car screams late 90's early 2000's and I owned this car back in 2015. I felt that the car had adiquite power at 192 HP considering its size. The car got 30+ mpg and had a fun 5 seed transmission. I reccommend this car to anyone who wants a fun little sports car for not too much money!

99 SLK230, handles very well, turbocharged inline 4 is very peppy, roomier inside than you would think, visibility is very good, Bose sound excellent, looks really sharp, surprisingly good gas mileage cons- console paint chips easily, trunk lock misbehaves at times

its a real sports car, great perfrmance, from zero to 100km in a flash, super handling on curves and i enjoy the drive when i go from beirut to the mountain, i recommend this car for every one who likes sport cars! try to drive slowle :P
