My father had one.

My father had one. He traded it for a 2005 Silverado. He only had 1 problem with it, we had to replace the main pulley. It sits low and handles great! I genuinely love this car. The only problem being that its slow. Do not get it if you are not into cars or don't like feeling like your driving a race car. If your into cars I'd highly recommend getting it as a first car. For parents reading this, it is slow, you wont catch your son or husband speeding in this. It handles like a real race car as well!

Owned two-best cars I've ever owned.

Love the last generation Cougar. Owned a 2002 V6 for 10 years, donated it for parts because the rear subframe rotted out under me. At around 150k a brake line blew. No problems otherwise. The body and interior were pristine. We just kept up on the routine maintenance and this car owed me nothing. I got a brand new SUV but replaced it with a 2001 i4 Cougar 3 years later and have never regretted. I'm 70 and it's not the easiest to get in and out of. I should grow up and get a big girl car. (Maybe someday but not now).

Most reliable car i own

This car get me where i need to go and back home. Starts up each and every time. I guarantee that this would be the best little old car you get and with low mileage.

Nothing but problems from day one.

This vehicle has been nothing short of a nightmare. A very bad choice for a vehicle. Major problems from the start. It has been in the shop repeatedly with different problems. I won’t let My daughter drive car, for fear of her safety.

Old but sturdy vehicle

This car has met all of my needs. I used it for interstate traveling, as well as getting to/from work. The car has never failed me, and is surprisingly reliable. The car and engine may make more noise than a brand new vehicle, but this car will definitely get you from A to B. The only reason why I am selling this car is that I am leaving the US.

Great Sports Car -- Fun to Drive

This is a great little sports car with great power to weight ratio. Will hang with Mustang GTs on the highway. Great styling, sporty, quick.... last year built and most of the trouble solved by this year. Typical problems with the model included the sun roof and alternator problems. Only concern on this model are the plastic door window trim that tend to fade over time.

Great reliable fun sports car to drive

This car offers excellent value for the money. So much fun to drive and power to weight ratio makes it fast and profile keeps it very stable on the highway. In addition, it gets excellent gas mileage.... around town 26-27 and low 30s on the highway -- great design. This is the second one we owned.... first one was a 2000 Sport Auto that we ran up to 180K and it is still going strong. This is the last year of the Cougar and a special edition -- the C2. They figured out many of the early model problems including the alternator location and repair. Fun, fun car to drive and keeps up with the V8 Mustangs on the highway.

The best are on gas I've driven

This car gets great gas mileage. It starts up in the coldest weather and the air conditioning gets cold with like 2mins when you turn it on.

Garbage

This car was trash, never purchase one. I've owned other Mercurys that I've really enjoyed, this was absolute garbage tho. Spent more time being repaired than anything else.
