RELIABLE

I have owned my 2000 intrigue for almost a year now. This car is very reliable and i like the power under the hood. Its not the fastest car but when you put your foot all the way down it does take off which is great. I would recommend this car to anybody, especially if you want a long lasting, low maintenance.

I love this car

I found this car to be very reliable and comfortable. It drives great, very smooth riding. I personally have the leather heated seats and I LOVE them. They warm up very quickly and feel great. Also I think that the gas milage is good with the Intrigue. The one complaint I have is the cup holders are in a very weird spot, they're hard to use and when they are used sometimes the drinks are spilled. Overall the car is great, I am more than satisfied with it.

1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue GX

I purchased this car in 1999 with about 18,000 miles on it. 10 years later at 210,000 miles it is time to say goodbye. Overall, it has been a pretty satisfying vehicle with an acceptable service history. A crankshaft speed sensor under warranty and a fuel valve brought separate trips to the shop but it never left me stranded. The front blinkers did give me some fits over the years, I ended up changing out the bulb connectors and utilized dielectic grease to solve the problem. Didn't need my first front brake job until 75K miles and my second at 175K. I finally replaced the rear brakes at 200K for the first time. I did have to replace the HVAC blower motor and the blower resistor once when the fan quite working. The 3.5L engine always seemed to make decent power, however it didn't seem quite as strong as my brothers 3.8L Grand Prix. I will say that this engine has always been thirsty for oil. Since day one it has always needed at least one quart of oil added between the 3,000 mile oil changes. As a side note, my brothers 3.8L Pontiac never burned a drop of oil during this same time frame. I have gone through struts once, several sets of tires but I am still running the original wheel ends with no squeaking or bearing issues. Original alternator, water pump, power steering, exhaust, no tranny issues. I don't know. In my mind, having a car like this for 10 years with only a couple trips to the shop for minor issues $500 or less, feels like a success to me. This past winter I started burning coolant and I parked the car until it got warmer in the spring. At 210K miles a head job costs $3500 and a replacement engine would be $4500. Thats OK, I feel I got my money's worth on this vehicle. It is time to say goodbye and start looking for a replacement. I would have no issues buying another one of these cars with over 100K miles. I would be hesitant to buy with over 180K since the engine could be nearing the end of its servicable life.

Rather Sporty Sedan

I bought a 2000 Intrigue with over 148,000 miles on it nearly a month ago. It still runs and drives great! I absolutely love it! I really wish GM would build them again.

Solid

I just sold my 2000 Intrigue. It had 183,000 miles and was still running strong. It was actually a car that my parents bought new and that I bought from them. So I pretty much know the history of the car through all 183k. There's not much bad to say. We didn't have to do much work at all beyond normal wear and tear stuff. There were problems with lights on the instrument panel -- Check engine, airbag, antilock lights were always on, though there were no problems. And by the end it was burning oil pretty quickly. The good would be the engine, for sure. Powerful, smooth, quiet and consistent. Very solid. Great transmission. Pretty good gas mileage -- up to 27 hwy. Overall a nice solid vehicle.

Love my Intrigue

I bought my 2000 Intrigue new after almost a year of searching for the right car. Nine years later I still love it. It is roomy and comfortable. Loads of cargo space - fits giant size suitcases going to the airport. Never had any major repairs. Speakers sound great. My only complaint is that it is very hard to see the tiny little light on the A/C button if it's sunny outside. Sooo sorry they don't make them any more - what a great car.

Nice Car!

I love this car! The exterior design is nice, but the interior design leaves something to be desired. The car is a little cramped, but is comfortable none the less. The car handles real well and drives smoothly. My car has over 144,000 miles on it and has been in three wrecks so far. And it couldn't be better! Amazingly, i have only had minor mechanical problems. One was a transmission fuel leak. Some interior parts are broken, like an air vent and the vanity mirror, but you learn to ignore them. A reoccurring problem, though, is the brake pads seem to wear down fast. Overall, the car holds together pretty well. Mechanical problems will occur, but this happens in every car. The car is well worth what i paid for it.
