I Love This Car!

I bought my used Intrigue in 2003 and have never regretted it. The car now has close to 120,000 miles on it. I have had no problems at all. I have been amazed at the gas mileage. I average 25 in town and 30 on long trips. This with a v-6 engine! I know one family that has just recently purchased their third Intrigue. When we are together, we talk on and on about how great a car this is. Oldsmobile did it right on this one. It is unfortunate that GM decided to stop making it.

One of the best cars in this size segment

I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if they still made them. I really like the handling, power, ride and comfort of this car. The economy was higher than expected. On our trip out West I checked the gas mileage 3 times. I got 32.2, 31.6 and 30. The 30 was running 83-85 mph from Rapid City,SD to Sioux Falls, SD. I was happy. The power and handling in the mountains during our trip and driving around home makes it a joy to drive. My wife has a back problem and I was worried, on our trip, about the long days in the car, but , evidently the seats are orthopedically very good as she had no problem. Finally a wonderful car and then they quit making them, what a shame.

The Most frusterating car ever created.

I purchased this car used in 2003 it had 38,000 miles on it. I thought I was getting a good deal. Within the four years of owning this auto I have had to rebuild the transmission ($2400), replace both oxygen sensors ($120 a piece) and it is throwing the O2 sensor code again, 2 wheel sensors ($140 a piece), one wheel hub assembly ($180 a piece), Water Pump and serpentine belt ($380), and the tune up for this car is outrageously high ($300+)depending of course on how much you want done. I still need to replace another Wheel Hub assembly that began to go as soon as I had the first replaced. The alumminum wheels are very fragile. I've cracked two of them and currently have one other that is a bent. ($160 for replacement). What seemed to be a good deal at the time of purchase has ended up costing me me over $3000.00 in additional repairs. By the way the transmission mechanic couldn't even give a reason for what caused it to fail. I also need the muffler replaced as well as the problems that the tune-up was supposed to fix continue to persist. It also burns through oil after about 2000 miles of it being changed. My mechanic could not figure out why. I did routine oil changes and maintenance as well. Just a bad experience overall.

Oldsmobile Intrigue

I purchased this car in 2000 and I must say, I truly adore this make & model. I just wish GM had continued to manufacture this vehicle. I have had no major problems with this car and in fact just recently had the oxygen sensor changed. The car is serviced every 3 to 4 thousand miles and has been driven on long trips. I am so comfortable with my Intrigue and I know eventually I will have to part with it due to age, however if GM ever decided to again manufacture this car, I would be the first in line to purchase another one. I am happy to see Intrigues still on the road. As a matter of fact, I have been given the hi-five by other intrigue owners as we pass each other on the road. This is truly a GREAT vehicle.

'00 Intrigue GL Review

This is a cleanly styled vehicle both inside and out with a roomy and comfortable interior, and a good-sized trunk. Driving the Intrigue feels like driving an import. Speed-sensitive steering offers good feedback, and the brake pedal is responsive with its ABS brakes. Seats are comfy and supportive. While the car is fairly big, it doesn't feel like it from the driver's seat, thanks to responsive handling and good visibility. Intrigue's twin-cam V6 not only provides solid acceleration and good fuel economy, but it does so without the need for premium fuel, unlike many other performance-oriented V6 powerplants in this class.
