Porsche Cayenne S
Very Good vehicle? worth every penny paid for. I have owned a few different model Porsches but this is my first SUV ever. I am pleased with the handling verse the power output, space and comfort. Terrible gas mileage but then what would you expect if you have a heavy foot? I was reluctant in purchasing new due to being a diehard 911 enthusiast so I purchased it used with extremely low mileage. Very reliable; a few negative take always regarding electrical gremlins. Not too crazy about the flat spot on the throttle though due to the drive by wire system. Every now and again I get a rear glass hatch open warning. I have searched high and low for a bad contact or ground; have even taken it to the dealer and the cause is still a mystery. It has proven to be a very versatile vehicle that can take some punishment if need be. Over all I am very pleased with the ending result and more so impressed with the capabilities in which it can perform.

Wife's winter car
I have read the reviews of others and being a 2004 Cayenne owner I would like to say what I have experienced. I have just went over 100K and have not had a problem. I do the maintenance myself (oil and tune-ups) I have always used mobile 1 oil 9 Qts. When I looked at getting my wife a car that she can drive in the winter I looked at several 4x4 vehicles and with the resale value holding well I chose the Cayenne. It has power that I have tried and in turns it can run like a sports car but it is a 5,000 lb car. I haven't used it for a drag/sports car just a car. It is comfortable and nice to drive the gas is bad but if your worried about that don't buy a Porsche. I may be just lucky with mine but I think some abuse plays part of some problems.

Nice Ride!
The Porsche Cayenne S is a great bank for the buck. I do have to say that everyone assumes that it is a $100,000+ car when in all reality I purchased mine used for $24k which is the same price as a new Hyundai. I mean really, Porsche vs. Hyundai, what would you choose? lol

2004 Cayenne S
I have an '04 with over 120,000 miles on it. It is the best SUV I have ever driven for comfort and ride. The only major repair so far has been the water pump. The driver seat is second to none in comfort. I am a bit biased perhaps as my other car is a 911 Carerra.

Turbo fun, SUV convenience
This truck is so much fun. It does things that SUV's shouldn't be able to do. Fast, fun, worst gas mileage I've ever had.

Pushing 85,000 miles and only one bad tube!!
So I purchased my Cayenne Turbo in 2004 NEW and I am pushing 85,000 miles, the only major problem I have had was with a radiator hose that cracked. Was fixed by Porsche's OUTSTANDING techs here in Littleton, CO in less than a day. Cost for total repair was was under $900, do to being out of warranty. Though a lot of you would say "OMG" to that price, I feel like after 6 years of wonderful reliability, that this cost is minor!! Though none the less it was a fault, which dropped my score a bit...other than this, this vehicle has seen ICE, SNOW, WHITE OUT BLIZZARDS, and much more and still tears it up as if it was brand new. As another reviewer said, you get what you pay for...maintenance costs are high on this vehicle, but hey it's a PORSCHE!! If you have bought or are thinking of buying a Cayenne then you should already know it's LUXURY and that does bring with it a large price tag no matter what it is (Maintenance or Otherwise)!! Love this car, will be trading it in on a 2011 Cayenne Turbo within the next 6-12 months. Porsche is the way to go for vehicles, and I have had 1 of almost all (maybe not all vehicle makes) vehicle makes from Dodge to Ford, BMW to Lexus, Jaguar to Aston Martin, and I still keep coming back to Porsche!! Thanks Porsche keep up the good work!!

Not worth the hassle- get another year
The vehicle is definately a Porsche. It has the power and handling that you would expect, however the vehicle has too many gremlins. I had tiptronic problems, windshield wiper problems, and other electronic issues. One example is that when I would go into the menu to make all doors unlock the settings would never save and the only door to unlock with remote was drivers door. PCM would not put sound out on occasion, but would work by cycling power switch. After I traded the vehicle in the drain holes clogged and caused water to enter vehicle right after Porsche dealer fixed wipers and installed new lower cowl. Many plastic trim pieces around seats would snap off leaving you to wonder where they came from. Unacceptable for a Porsche that stickered over $100k. I drove the Turbo from Wisconsin to Colorado and back for a ski trip and had no issues mechanically. The Turbo performed wonderfully, but ran a little hot on long climbs. Keep lots of extra money in your account for maintenance costs! Look for another model year in the Turbo...

Great concept, horrible execution
Let me start off by saying the Cayenne was the perfect vehicle for us. We needed an SUV that was smaller, but could tow some. It looks awesome, handles even better and drives like a dream. If only it could stay out of the shop. Even simple things like spark plugs and coil packs cost nearly a grand to replace when it started misfiring one day. Brakes will cost you nearly $2,000 to replace. Our Cayenne's driveshaft broke, that was another $1200 dollars. Little things in the interior broke that shouldn't. Sunglass compartment regularly breaks. Glove box won't open occasionally. Panel above the passenger's feet falls off inexplicably. This will be the first and last Porsche product we own. I beat on my American sports cars on the race track regularly and haven't had any of the issues that this daily driver has had. In conclusion, it's an extremely attractive package but it isn't built with any regard for reliability or quality. Don't be tricked by its good looks. I'm sure many divorces follow a similar plot line as Porsche ownership: great looks, fun personality, but the maintenance and long term attitude is terrible.
