Good all around pickup
This is a review after 5 years of ownership, so I've had plenty of time to assess the xxxxxxand con's. All in all, my 2012 Ram 1500 (4x2 quad cab with 5.7L engine) has been very reliable and has only needed routine maintenance so far. Here are the top xxxxxxand con's that I see so far: Pro's: (1) Power of the Hemi engine. It won't win any fuel economy rewards, but you can safely haul and tow what the mfr rates. (2) Rambox storage system. I'm sold on this option because it's so useful. Items that usually take up space in the cab go in the Ramboxes. The bed is also different and comes with a moveable divider and sliding track with cleats. Great for securing items in the bed. (3) Fold flat rear floor. Another great idea which gives you a flat surface behind the front seats to haul/stow items. I actually use it for transporting my dog. Just lay down his blanket and he has a nice space to lie down on. Con's: (1) Transmission programming. The transmission shifts into overdrive way too early in city/suburban traffic which causes the engine to lug and downshift excessively. You can work around this by using either the tow-haul mode or ERS (electronic range select). Sort of annoying that I have to remember to select something depending on my driving pattern. (2) OEM Goodyear Wrangler tires. They didn't wear out prematurely, but I had to replace them because the rubber had gotten hard and the traction suffered. (3) Fuel economy. The flip side of owning the Hemi. The EPA figures of 14 city and 20 hwy aren't accurate at all. Expect figures of around 11-12 mpg city and 17-18 hwy. In hindsight, my only real regret is not having waited one year longer and gotten the 8 speed transmission. Almost everyone praises the 8HP70 transmission, whereas the 65RFE transmission gets mixed reviews because it lacks some of the versatility of the 8 speed.

Very comfortable and reliable.
I am totally happy with this truck. My next truck will be another Ram. The only thing I don't really like about this truck is that, being a Hemi, it uses 16 spark plugs.

Cool sporty truck!
Bought a 2011 Ram 1500 Sport used with the Hemi engine and Quad cab. This truck with the Sport package has a great throaty sound, plenty of power and lots of snap in the pedal. If you aren't careful, you'll get pretty bad gas mileage. With that in mind, if you back off and try at it, you can get pretty good gas mileage with the "displacement" or Economy mode where the Hemi turns itself into a 4 banger to conserve fuel. This rig has a really good look, inside and out. It has the Navigation, Alpine, touchscreen upgraded system complete with backup camera. You can comfortably fit three passengers in the back seat. Nicely equipped with a sun roof, rear slider, fog lights, dual chrome exhaust, and sport hood that makes it a looker. The biggest drawback of this truck is the sound and that Hemi. It is so hard to stay "out of it". You definitely turn heads and a lot of teenage boys want to race. The old TV commercials where folks ask if it's "got a Hemi?"...it's true, people like to hear you open it up. Just hard on your gas budget. Good truck for the money, good reliable transportation and a good look.
