Balancing Act

To sum it up? Yes, bought one for needs. Traded in an overpriced Ram 2500 glitzy truck wanna be for a Ram 3500. Spent months researching vehicles. Between poor self centered greedy advertising, dealers and manufacturers, not easy to find right one and even then it was still a sad compromise when having truck spec built. Consider Ram 3500 best out there. But? It still leaves much to be desired because of all the games played by others especially in advertising. Local dealers service departments are another headache and determining factor. Good? None I know of. Ram is best out there is scary? With Ram? I don't see the rust outs of GM trucks, the over inflated Ford prices or the lack of basic choices from the other imports. But, still there's enough other problems to make choices difficult. When Ram goes cheap, they go all the way? One dim center dome light in a Tradesman crew cab? Also, check to make sure you have ALL manuals BEFORE purchase. Afterwards can be a PITA. Manuals aren't cheap and neither is time to obtain them. Truck itself? Not great for the money spent. So far it works. The 3500 has some basic truck features that are so far not so crammed down your throat like being able to control tire pressures to realistic pressures w/o bells and whistles going off every single time it's started. Basic 3.0 radio actually turns off and stays off not just mutes like all other radios? Engine? 6.4L MDS gas. ( Forget about finding many 5.7L engine on dealer lots.) MDS works when going down hill or stopping. Rarely any other time. (Advertising ploy if nothing more?) Not on when most would expect at loaded or unloaded cruising speeds. Box? 8' so gate can be safely closed when hauling normal 8' materials not sticking out or over gate when closed. If 10' materials are needed gate's open and load is supported and secured. Not so easy with 5'-7" or 6'-4" box. Remember trucks are utility general purpose vehicles? Who knows what load's next every time? Cab? Crew cab , allows for room for passengers and parcels when shopping. Advertised 6 people? No, not normal ones. Forget about sitting front and center. It's useless except as an oversized armrest with "features" no normal person can reach while driving and barely when parked. The chrome center console handle glares sunlight in eyes while driving. Safety concern? Bench seat? Who's kidding who there? Glorified buckets with another name. No real choice on manual or remote Crew cab "Remote" windows or door locks. The"Remote" is remote from inside only on base model - BUT NOT from outside! Comes with standard keys. No remote buttons. Sad cheap Ram joke? Could unfortunately say much more. If you NEED a NEW truck to be used as a HAULING truck and not a toy, buy Ram 3500. You'll have best choices of what I spent months looking for. If you don't? Don't. Buy used vehicle from an individual that suits your needs may be best option.
