Great Car

by Daedelus from Washington, DC on Sun Feb 24 2013

I have a SAAB 900S, 4-door hatch - why don't they make cool hatches anymore? 2nd owner and have had the car 12 years. This is the best combination of performance, handling, gas mileage, and utility I have ever seen. You can haul 800 pounds of rocks and lumber and then take it to the mountains and carve up turns like a true, european touring car. Need a new car, but they just all look alike now...

love the performance

by performance & durability man from Pennsylvania on Sat Aug 15 2009

Superb performance in a quality built modest size vehicle. Excellent handling and pep. The chain driven cam engine means no timing belt failure worries with age, and these engines seem to go forever. Mine at 225 thousand, quiet and no oil consumption or dripping. A Scotsmans bargan in a performance car. Very smooth and quiet at 75mph.

Reliable, fun to drive, and a great value. Plus a drop top! Can it get any better? Had a similar model a few years back and loved it!!

Fun, comfortable, reliable. The automatic climate control was the best I have ever experienced. Great passing power (v6) My only issue?? Cost to repair

Our Take on the 1994 Saab 900

The buzz among auto writers these past few months is that Saab has done a remarkable job with the new 900.

But like Nick Carraway, the solemn, introspective narrator of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, I, too, am inclined ''to reserve all judgments.''

I'll reserve them, that is, until I've had a chance to put the gas pedal to the metal and do some serious driving. I piled on 734 miles in six days in the new 900.

Saab has done a fabulous job reworking the 900, which aside from the name, is almost completely new. Except for the base model's four-cylinder engine, few if any parts are carried over from the first-generation 900, which ended production last year.

If you are in the market for... Read More
