Overall Satisfied
I have had my Saab 9-5 Aero for little over a year after purchasing it used from a local dealer. I have had a few odd problems with it, but overall am very pleased with the performance and handling. I also enjoy the ventilated/ heated seats option because it comes in handy!! I am disappointed in the digital clock/ temperature gauge unit. It cuts in and out whenever it feels like it. Also my Saab symbol has fallen off two different times, each costing $100.00 to get replaced. Overall the vehicle is great for the morning commute and long trips!! I have taken my car to Florida on three different occasions and have no trouble.

Most satisfying car I've ever owned.
I have a 2000 9-5 SE Wagon that I bought new. It is exceptionally comfortable and safe with plenty of power at all speeds and solid handling. The fit and finish of the interior is very high quality. To me, this is the last Saab model that still really feels like a Saab. GM is steadily draining the life and quirkiness out of the brand. Honestly, if they still made a 900 4-door, I'd prefer to have one, but I'll gladly settle for a 9-5.

Solid, safe
Buy this used for under $10k, get 32+mpg highway, plenty of go for passing, and a super comfortable ride. The best part is it is unique enough that you'll probably be the only one in the neighborhood to have one. It is NOT so uniqe that Basic maintencance such as brakes, tires, oil filters and changes cannot be done at the local garage and quite a bit of any parts you would can be delivered the next day at a neighborhood autoparts stor. Other parts can be found reasonably online. Some specialty things may need to be done at the dealer but for most things i was relieved to find out, can be done by almost anyone.

A great used car!
The Saab 9-5 is an incredible value as a used car. Late model, low mileage cars can be found for 1/2 to 1/3 the original MSRP. While they are priced competitively new at around $40,000, getting a 2 year old car with low miles make it a bargain at under $20,000. The Aero is FAST and the comfort features are top-fo-the-line.

Discreet, handles well, nice touches in cabin
Handles well, love the Sports mode, Cruise controls are easy to reach on left of steering wheel, great trip and diagnosis computer that warns in case of problems, some small nice touches like 2 sun shades each for both driver and passenger

Don't get a Saab 9-5 SE
I just got rid of my 2000 Saab 9-5 SE. It was a great little rid, great pick up and go - but completely unreliable. The car completely shut off on me while I was going 65 down the freeway and there were many more problems. In the 2.5 years I had the car I spent over $3,000 on repairs. Saab's are so expensive to fix - just say NO!
