2004 Ion-2 Deathtrap!
Worst "gift" ever! (It was my mom's, she bought it brand new to replace a xxx SL2 she had that died, now she no longer drives due to advanced age and gave me the Ion. This Ion IS the biggest xxx I've ever owned and driven, if it had ANY resale value, I'd sell it in a nano second!! Not only is it a slow under-powered, laggy bomb with terrible fuel economy, there is always water in the trunks spare tire/ battery compartment area and no one knows where it comes from, but it's always there! I've had multiple shorts in the electrical system, window switch works when it wants to, radio often turns on and off, or wont turn on or off, some interior lights are affected by the radio issue, 3 window regulators have failed, 1window motor failed, 1 wiper motor failed, 1 radiator went, 2 steering shafts went, one strut blew, so I changed them all, all 4 speakers dry rotted and have been replaced with much better sounding upgrades, the OEM rims bent way too easily and had to go, I've have had a few busted front end suspension parts and it only has 38k original miles on it and lately my tranny is slipping! The center position gauge cluster dashboard layout IS by far the dumbest idea ever. Windshield angle is terrible, especially in heavy downpours! Braking system has been entirely redone numerous times, yet still always feel spongy, steering is terrible, too many blind spots or hard to see spots, elbow room is poor, pedals are set back too far, whilst the steering wheel is set too far forward so you need very long legs and very short arms to drive this hunk of garbage comfortably! The only good thing I can say is that I just finally replaced the original OEM AC-Delco battery 2 months ago! One other thing I can say is that I've owned MANY, MANY vehicles (probably 100+) and I've never disliked any of those half as much as I despise this ugly little speck of a plastic xxxxxx pit! I really HATE my Saturn and I can see why they went belly-up!!

First Car
I was sixteen when I purchased- or, in hindsight, basically STOLE- this car from my mom for $1,000. He was nicknamed "The Saturn" even though we owned other Saturns. I grew up with this car around and it was always reliable and never left my mom stranded and was just as reliable with me. I have no idea what kind of trim we had, but i do know that it lasted for 12+ years without ever having a single issue. We let him go do to imprudence and some family drama that he got associated with. Poor car. He still worked, and even I, being a 16 year old with a license, was not able to crash, damage, or break this vehicle, and he was never taken care of very well. I recently went looking for this car again and saw that the only ones still around that were "safe bets" for a used car costed around $6,000. If only i had known what i know now i would never have gotten rid of this vehicle.

The best car I've ever owned!
This is the most reliable car. It's built so well, there hasn't been major repairs for the 14 years I've had it. If Saturns were still made, I'd get one again.

My 2004 Saturn Ion 5-speed is the best car I've ev
My 2004 Saturn Ion 5-speed, that I still own today, has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I've never had any mechanical issues except for me having to change the thermostat on it. Other than keeping the oil changed on a regular basis, my Saturn Ion has been awesome on reliability. The inside of the car had more room than I expected. Our family fits in my Saturn Ion perfectly with room left. Plus I love the way the dashboard is set up. While driving I don't have to move my hands out of the way to see how fast I'm going, or to look at the other gauges. All I have to do is look to My right a little an I can see everything. I also love how the dash changes color as it gets dark. I also found out looks can be deceiving. To look at my Saturn Ion on the outside it looks like it wouldn't that much room inside, but like I said before, our family can fit comfortably inside with room to spare. My Saturn Ion has exactly 163,835 miles on it, an it still drives like it did the day I got it. I've never had a more reliable car than my Saturn Ion. I put a Hum in my Saturn Ion, so that way I could answer my phone through the Bluetooth, so I can keep my hands on the steering wheel. The OBD reader part of the Hum connects to the OBD port of course. It tells me everything going on with my Saturn Ion. Let's me know if anything mechanical is going on with the engine, including if sensors are going bad. It also lets you know how many miles per gallon of gas the car gets. We found out that my Saturn Ion gets between 40 & 42 mpg. I also found out it depends on who driving the car. My husband used it one week to go to work or town, and when we'd check the driving history, that shows how many miles you went, an also how fast you were driving. The lowest mpg my car got was 38 mpg. That's another reason I love having a 5-speed. My Saturn Ion has out performed itself. I never thought I'd ever find a car I would really like, until I got my Saturn Ion 5-speed. I wouldn't trade it for anything, except maybe a newer model that's just like my Saturn Ion 5-speed I have now. Otherwise I'll keep taking care of my baby so it will last me forever. Thanks for your time. Angela Smith
