Great Car

Have had the car for over a year. Always runs great, love the features like the MP3 hookup. Great acceleration for a 4 cylinder car and of course great gas mileage. Easy steering along with great turning radius. Not overly sporty but still has a great look to it. Overall just love the car and am comforted by the fact that they have amazing reliability for years to come.

It's ok, but there's still issues

Now, after owning this car since last August, the Mass air flow sensor had to be replaced with only 16,000 miles on it. In February of 2010 there was a loud clunking noise underneath the car that was there since November of 2009, finally I couldn't stand it anymore and actually took it to the dealership where I bought it. It turned out to be the front sway bar links, which they replaced. It helped only until now, as the clunk has returned. Always loved GM products, but I think they could have done a little better on the ION! It proved to be very good in the Wisconsin snowfalls though!

the setting sun

I bought mine used, only one year old and 27k miles and have to say a terrific car for the money. 13k miles and 8 months on with no complaints. inexpensive to buy, operate and maintain. shame that gm decided to convert saturn into just another division and sell only stamped out copies of other gm cars. Ion is the last true saturn or at least the closest to the originals. the chasis was designed for this car and of course the plastic panels. the ecotec engine although a gm global effort was in part based on the SL2 engine. good thing they gave up on the cvt and used a more reliable trans though in 07. peppy, good mileage, roomy interior and trunk, nice styling, and a cabin air filter. all for not much cash. goodbye saturn.

Great value - Dependable car

Previously I owned a 1997 SL2 Saturn for 10 years and over 170,000 miles that got 33 mpg combined city/highway and 37 mpg on the highway. My 2007 ION gets a little less mpg (31 mpg combined and 36 mpg highway) but has a lot more power which is a nice compromise not giving up too much mpg. It's certainly not a race car, sports car, or luxury car but so far (27,000 miles) it has been nothing less than a great value and dependable. Just routine maintanence. With the plastic bodies these cars really hide their age: no rust, dings, or dents. Though no longer in production, the styling remains current as evidenced by the new Nissan Sentra which appearsto be a clone of the ION from the exterior.

Fun Car Great Gas Mileage

A fun car with great gas mileage. The Saturn Ion 3 quad coupe has electric steering, mp3 6cd changer moonroof, and quad doors that your not going to find in any othr cars at this price. Saturns excellent dealer satifaction and reliability are also a plus. Very happy with purchase and would recommend.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE - WON'T ACT ON COMPLAINTS

I bought my Ion three months ago and since then it's been back to the dealership twice. There is a loud chirpping noise coming from the front wheels and when I took it in, the mechanic there told me that is just how the ions are made and there is nothing he can do about the noise. It has something to do with the hub cap rubbing aginst the wheel and there is nothing he could do, that Ions have this problem and make this noise. I was not satisfied and talked to someone else who assured me that wasn't the case and that the problem would be fixed. He called me back a few minutes later and told me that he didn't drive a car with hub caps and he hasn't driven a car with hub caps for years and that the mechanic told him the same thing he told me and there was nothing that could be done about the noise. I got aggitated and said I didn't buy a new car just to have it start squeeking and I wanted something done about it. He finally agreed to put new hub caps on, but the noise would return because that's how saturn Ions are. I told him I would return when the noise came back to have the hub caps replaced again. Needless to say a little over a month later the noise came back and now it's in the shop again. When I took it back the same mechanic said sinec they replaced the hub caps last time he won't replace them again. I said whatever it takes to make the noise stop, it's embarresing to be driving a NEW CAR that squeeks. He disregared my concerns and said he would look at it and tell me what he thinks. I feel very blown off by this dealership and I have the full warrenty, so I should be able to get the problem fixed.

nice upgrade

not many people would call this car an upgrade, but i purchased it as a replacement to my 2002 saturn sl2. as such this car is larger, peppier, and more comfortable. it doesn't get as good mileage as the smaller saturn, but still above 30 overall. i like the higher seat height, and the larger interior room. i also like the innovations like the battery in the trunk, the electric power steering and even the center dash. i've read other reviews that suggest the interior finish is cheap in this car. i think the build quality is good; but the seat fabric does looks more suited for an airplane cabin or a hospital waiting room. that would be my main complaint: sterile interior. that's a pretty significant complaint for most people. overall, i still recommend it; it's a great value for the money, has the factory 100,000 mile warranty, and the buying and servicing experience thus far is second to none.

3rd Saturn I've Owned

This car is reliable, safe and economical (after all in the days of 2.60 + per gallon that is what most of us want). I had my 1st Saturn (SL-1) - for 15 years (192,758 miles) no major failures. My Second Saturn 2003 Vue for almost 4 years, great car. I bought a 2007 Ion last December and what can I say - a great, peppy and fun to drive car - Oh, the in car phone is very handy to have.
