nice improvements on a nice ride

space, gas economy, quality and price and still a cool ride! The 2008 has the power punch the original needed and excellent handling. Gas economy is sacraficed but still 22 to 28 mpg (real numbers) is easy to do. Wish it had more storage areas but otherwise it came off the lot well equipt. Scion pricing is pretty fixed but a good deal. I would buy it again

Now with more power and not as square

The first thing you will notice is a much needed smoother ride. Still it is the only car you can buy with best safety features for the price. The 2.4 is a smooth and test true engine from Toyota. The power band from this engine is great. It comes in at 4000 rpms and runs strong to redline. This car is not built to be a rocket, but it does have the power to pass now without worring the driver if it can in time.If you still fill you need more power a supercharger will be offered soon by TRD.This will boost horsepower to 200-230.Gas mileage has changed but this is mostly because the rules for gas mileage has changed for 2008. Old rules was at 55mph at perfect ouside tempature and no a/c. Now it is at 70mph colder tempature (winter like) with the a/c on. So don't let the gas mileage on the window sticker scare you. I have been getting 30mpg mixed driving with a little heavy foot at times.

2006 all grown up

I traded my 2006 xB for a 2008 xB... HUGE difference in cars!! It's like the "baby" grew up! Am averaging 31.5 MPG (34.6 on the 2006, it was 5-speed). Ride is great.... not bouncing like 2006 which is the only reason I traded. I am so glad I made the trade up. Hubbie is 6'5" and the bigger seats are more comfy for him. For the money, its hard to beat.

Excellent Car - More than Expected

I liked the original design, but didn't like its power or ride. The new xB has a much smoother ride, better handling, and obviously better power. Scion fan from mi clearly did not buy the car. This is not a PT Cruiser in looks (which I do like) or in quality. I looked at a PT Cruiser (`07) but did not like the new interior...it lost it's 30's/40's retro feel and was very, very disappointed in its gas mileage (not much better than my mini-van), very uncomfortable cloth seats, and horrible horrible road noise. The boston accoustics speakers, however, were fantastic. The new xB tops the Cruiser. It's not retro, but rather hot-rod-esqe, with a 20's/30's gangster car look. Definately diferent than the first one but not as retro as the PT Cruiser. The inside remains minimalist and very much inline with the previous xB. Great headroom, and front and back seat passenger leg room. Very comfortable cloth seats (as do all of scion models I tested), great pioneer sound system, side current and front passenger door airbags, loads of cargo storage, and the best, most unexpected feature is how absolutely quiet the car is...so much better than my 30k Dodge Grand Caravan that was fully loaded. A big improvement over the previous model. Oh, did I say good fuel economy too? It does...and right off the lot. The car has no driver side blind spot despite the larger pillars in the rear...that was a pleasant surprise as well. Ilive in Des Moines, Iowa and winter driving conditions made me leary to buy a used xB...but this can handle the snow and strong winds. It does well at 70 mph on the interstate and great in town too. I have no complaints, and I would recommend this car to anyone. I am 40, have 4 kids and dog. I doubt I was the demographic scion was marketing to, but hey...best car under 20k I know of. No hassle price, no hassle financing, and a great extended FULL warranty for 6 years and 100,000 miles for a bit more than a grand additional. The only negative....the orange model at the Chicago show should have been available.

I love this car!!

I had a 99 camry for a little while and wanted to buy a new car. This was the first 08 xb on the lot and i'm glad i got it. It is so smooth and fast. I think it i a great value and it is so fun to drive. Everywhere I go people can't stop looking at my car. This is the best car I ever had.

very disapointed with the exterior

The interior is great, more room, very comfortable. The outside style looks like a PT Cruiser. The roof line is lower, the windows are smaller. I wanted the old style with more power. Maybe next model will go back to the great style of the 2006 with all the goodies of the 2008.
