TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 4 CYL TURBO IS SMOOTH/RESPONSIVE

Replaced my 2020 Leased TOYOTA HIGHLANDER (6cyl) with a 2023 version (4cyl Turbo). I only have it one day, but am very happy. I personally exude and appreciate both Loyalty and Quality in my business dealings and in my business relationships, and that's exactly why I just purchased my 3rd automobile from the folks that own, and run WESTBURY TOYOTA. There's a myriad of reasons why WESTBURY TOYOTA is consistently rated the #1 TOYOTA Dealership and Service Center in The Tri-State Area. They routinely provide: - Fairly priced deals that normally beat the competition. - A large inventory to choose from. - Terrific Financing options and interest rates. - Stellar, Knowledgeable, well-trained Managers; Salespeople; Finance Department Staff; Service Personnel and Support Staff. A Service Department comprised of astutely competent, thorough, well-trained Managers, Technicians/Mechanics and Service Advisors. I not only trust these guys with my life, but with the lives of my family members, and those of my clients and friends that ride with me. Drop-in to WESTBURY TOYOTA, see the Financing & Leasing Manager, Luis Bono, "The Consummate Deal-Maker". Ask Luis to introduce you to Certified Sales Consultant, Cristian Reyes. You'll be glad you did, because Cristian handles everything related to your Sale or Lease, and then some, to bring about a most pleasurable, successful conclusion!!! Last, but not least, see Alex, the expert Finance Manager....a great guy and fun to deal with. Please mention to these wonderful folks at WESTBURY TOYOTA that P. J. sent you. I sure hope that you'll enjoy your new car and your great deal at WESTBURY TOYOTA, as much as I always have!!! God bless.... I’ll get back to you, with true SUV review, after my traditional new car maiden voyage on The Taconic State Parkway to Hunter Mountain. It’s New York’s version of World famous U. S. 1, that runs along California’s Pacific Coastline (PCH)….

engine no power. technology and design flaws,

To start with the new 4 cylinder engine seems to be zippy at first but under normal driving is jerky and not all smooth through acceleration. The engine seems to sulfur from turbo lag when trying to take off from a stop and especially bad once max AC is on. The previous v6 was quiet and smooth through acceleration. This 4 cylinder is not. It is loud and raspy and cannot keep consistent power. Once at high way speed the noise goes away and power is ok. As for the interior Toyota has some flaws. The seats are stiffer than most cars which seems ok at first but gives an uncomfortable feel of restlessness after 30 minutes longing for something more comfortable. I found the is car to have a lot of road noise when on the way. Considerably more than other cars in its class. The door panels are very light weight and flimsy. The window switch panel is loose and shakes when you touch it or grab it as to give a feel it will someday pop off. The lack of a proper arm rest on the door in combination with a very high up window sill make it a requirement to stuff a pillow under your left arm on long drives to have a place to rest it. As for technology? The new radio is terrible. You start from scratch everytime you enter the car with an add screen to subscribe to more Toyota monthly subscriptions. To start the radio you have to jump through multiple touch screen menus to turn it on. Anytime you want a different option or some information you have alt least 3-4 menus to navigate to get the job done. The remote start is a part of Toyota connect that you get 12 months free. However after 12 months you will pay a monthly subscription to use or access the remote start you have already payed for even with your key fob. Also they claim to have a safety feature with the remote start shutting down when you open a door to get in. this is a hassle than anything. finaly theclast flaw seems to be a computer programming flaw. when you put this into park the enigne shuts off. this is ok, however you take off the seatbelt for you or passenger to get out and the engine restarts. this is puzzling because now you just have to shut it off again. this even makes the dealer scratch its head. oh well i recommend looking into a different car all together and avoiding this train-wreck of flaws.

Unreliable, technology flaws

The car has an overall cheap build and material quality feel to it. It has quite alot more road noise than other cars in its class. The seats are hard and uncomfortable. The technology doesn’t work well. Toyota connect has a monthly fee where others do not to use features such as remote start on a key fob. The engine seems zippy at first but later shows its four cylinder colors with lack of power and acceleration. Once better it’s unreliable. We have had the car in for repairs for engine and safety system issues 4 times and they cannot figure out how to fix it. I’m not sure how this car could tow 5000 lbs. the radio is difficult to operate and requires multiple menus just to turn on everytime you get in. It crashes and freezes a lot as well. Just steeer clear of this thing and try something elses

Cheap quality, in comfortable and unreliable.

Poorly made car. The 4 cylinder turbo can’t make enough power until reved out. The seats and interior are stiff and uncomfortable for long trips or drives. The lack of sound dampening has a lot more road noise than other cars. There are no door armrests and the center console doesn’t meet up to be able to rest while driving which fatigues you quickly. The doors are light weight and cheap feeling along with the plastic interior panels of a cheap grade that scratches with a purse or just about anything super easily like the 80s Chevy plastic. I would recommend looking for another car all together. The remote start you pay extra for is a subscription service for $8 a month after the first year and won’t even stay running when you open the door. The radio is difficult to operate and sync to phones. It commonly crashes and resets. Not sure why but the engine stop system restarts the engine when you take off seatbelts to get out. Seems like a design programming flaw.

Junk. Lemon

We bought this lemon 2 months ago. The 4 cylinder engine isn’t holding up. It is knocking and loosing power on acceleration once warmed up. The lain deviation yanks the steering wheel at random times and cause me to loose control of the car in the interstate and file a NHTSA report for its safety. The radio keeps stashing and locking up. The dealer has had it twice and keeps giving it back saying it’s fine. So far Toyota themselves have been no help. Aside from those issues the dealer never told us that the remote start for Toyota shuts the engine off when you unlock the doors to load groceries or get in which defeats its purpose and no other car does. They also failed to tell us that the remote start is a subscription service of $8 a month even to use the key fob after 12 months. This information would have sent us buying another car up front. The seats in the car are very firm and uncomfortable. The reach of the steering is bad. They also didn’t put an armrest on the drivers door. They tried to mold some rounded area in but it’s too low and far away for anyone to use as an armrest. Looks of the car itself are just so,so. Nothing great. Kinda cheap looking. All the trim panels and guard plates for door jams and hatch that came standard on our last car they want to charge $100s extra for.
