I bought my Matrix new in January of 2008, and it

I bought my Matrix new in January of 2008, and it currently has 390,000 miles and has been a great car. I’ve had to replace a good part of the exhaust system over the years, one brake job, and replaced the tie rod ends, but that’s all - other than lots of tires and a few batteries. It’s starting to show signs of crankshaft rod bearing wear finally - I’m trying to decide if they’re worth replacing.

Buying A Near Perfect Reliable Car

2008 Pontiac Vibe(Matrix) Have owned this car since 2011. It had 60,000 miles then. It has 170,000 miles now. Paint is near perfect. There’s no rest. Interior is perfect still. Uses no oil. Engine runs fine. Changed brakes three times. Tires twice. No other repairs! It is a joy to drive. If second gear were a rower ratio it would speed up better. Handles quite well with precision. Driver dimensions are for smaller people. Many times I drive with my arms crossed to keep from putting pressure on my joints, but I like to sit up straighter than most people, too. If you are impatient and push the accellerator to the floor from low speed you might think there’s a turbo on the engine, because you can hit 60 in a moment. My gps says it will do 113 mph. If you are looking for an inexpensive older car(always if in doubt, ask a mechanic to check a car out), I think the Matrix or Vibe will go close to 300,000 miles. There is road noise, but doors and widows are still tight: no rattles, eveything works. It’s good car!

Runs forever

It is a very reliable vehicle. At 100,000 miles, it runs like new. No major repairs so far. I have serviced it at a dealership.

Beautiful Condition Car

This car is honestly well maintained beautiful condition car. It had never had any problem since I bought it back in 2017. Tires and brake discs have been changed. Routinely engine oil change has been performed. Definitely worth the price!

Really reliable car. Cheapest maintenance.

Perfect and nice car for it price. Very comfortable and practice. I ride on it about 50000 miles, and do nothing, except cheap maintenance (oil and brake pads change) Very reliable! Drive it with pleasure.

Extraordinary Versatility and Reliability

Very generous legroom for passengers riding in the rear seat. Great versatility with rear and front passenger seats folding completely flat providing for good cargo capabilities such as fitting long items or a mattress to camp out. Laptop junkies will love the full-size 115-volt power outlet to charge all kinds of electronics. The rear window opens separately from the rear hatch. No repairs, just maintenance.

The little car with a big heart and storage.

This is my wife's car and it really won me over with its reliability and cargo size for a car its size. This hatchback gets similar storage space to newer small SUVs. The interior is well designed and it's actually a sharp looking car. It is comfy inside and even in the back seat. It does not have tons of bells and whistles but for an $18k car you won't get that. However you get a car that drives well and can fit way more than you'd expect. The little 4 cylinder may rev high to go up hills and to pass people on the highway but it's got some zip for a small engine. It can easily get over 30mpg and overall maintenance costs are low. My biggest complaint is road noise. The car lacks sound deadening and you notice that when making a call in the car or even listening to the radio. That's probably typical of an economy car but I definitely notice it. It also annoys me that they have two front cup holders and one is smaller than the other and won't hold most travel cups while the other is just the right size.

Most reliable car I've owned. I have a newer model

I absolutely adore the Toyota Matrix which they have stopped making. Better than Prius in terms of simple consul and older car sensibility. I get great mileage, feel comfortable and safe, and it's good looking. I traded this for a Matrix with lower miles and we have two others in the family. Gung ho :).
