  • Rotten To The Core

I bought my T100 new in Savannah, Georgia. It was the only T100 on the lot. It just peaked my interest. I gave the keys to my other Toyota truck to the salesman for an appraisal. I knew I wanted the T100. I drove it off of the lot without any inspection or detailing. I went straight home to Ft Bragg. I ETSd from the Army after buying a Dodge Caravan. My home was in Detroit. That is where my truck was introduced to salty roads. Within one year, I noticed crusty rust build up on the frame. Slowly, but surely the cancer spread to the entire front end, transfer case and differential. I tried rust stop. I even bought a light duty sand blaster. Nothing worked. I didn't drive it much after 25 years it only had 110,000 miles. The frame looked like Swiss cheese. In 2019, I was cruising down the highway. I could hear some cracking sounds underneath the truck. A couple minutes later, all of the control arms collapsed. I became a passenger until it came to a very hard stop running into the guard rail. The tow truck driver said I was real lucky the truck didn't roll. Toyota corporate said their was nothing they could do. Many Tundras and Tacomas had the frames replaced as well as any front end suspension parts that were affected by the frame rot. The squeekiest wheel gets the most oil. Many more Tacomas and Tundras were sold compared to the T100. They raised xxxx and won in court. What a shame for Toyota to screw so many loyal customers. I have never bought or owned a Toyota since. Other than the frame rot debacle the T100 was an excellent vehicle in every way.

  • Best money I have ever spent on a pick-up

This truck not only has been through xxxx & back 250000 miles. The only problem I've had with it was damaged caused by me. This little 3.4L V6 SR5 4X4, 5 on the floor has out lasted 2 Silverado's and a Ford F-250 6.0 powerstroke need I say more. It still Rockin, best truck I've ever owned & I have had many. Still enjoy driving it to this day.

  • SR5 Ext cab 4x4, works as new with 235k.

SR5 EXT cab 4x4, automatic, on 235 65 17 Michelins, 235k miles, everything still works as new, the 3.4v6 runs fantastic and still gets 16.6 mpg driving in Tampa Florida rush hour traffic, 0-80 and back to 0mph a hundred times per day, in a bit of a hurry all the time.

  • More reliable than F100 or GMC.

After 24 years and 235,000 miles, have replaced replaced one clutch and a set of valve gaskets. Still get 20.2 miles/gallon. A/C still works great. Ride is a little harsh over bumps.

  • T100 has super reliablilty, gas mileage & comfort

We love our T100 Xtracab V6. The best truck for the money. Reliable, easy to do routine maintenance like oil and filter changes. We always get compliments on it. It is 350k miles and still going strong after nearly 24 years. Nobody beats Toyota.

  • Gone, but not forgotten

Bought a 95 extra cab with 200k and was fantastic. Regret selling it. About to drive from IL to NC to purchase a 95 long bed 5-speed 4x4, because the rust belt has sabotaged most that I can locate. Toyota doesn't make these trucks, and neither does anyone else, because they want no part of selling a cheap reliable truck, would rather sell trucks for 40-50k. Personally, I'd rather have a basic reliable truck without frills and that is exactly what a used T100 gives you. Drivetrain is indesctructable and runs like a sewing machine. Only have the 3.4 v^ (95-98) so don't think you are going to pull a 30 foot camper, but does everything else you need a truck to do.

  • Great capable 4x4 if taken care of and good invest

These older Toyota trucks are good for a lower budget due to resale value and cult following. You can but one for under $5K and put a little money into it and have a VERY capable 4x4 Light truck. New costs $25-45k.. nuts! I have owned 2 1990's 4x4s from Toyota (one for 22 years)and can say they are great trucks. I haven't bought new due to insane costs. I have a 1995 T100 4x4 single cab long bed that is a victim of neglect from previous owner. However, it runs and performs well considering the condition it was in. Mostly rust issues. There is a undercarriage rust issue do to being near ocean and rust belt. I recommend treating the undercarriage with a good rust remover and retardant. (POR-15). I planned on doing a restore on this truck. The 3.4L is a good motor but you must do preventive maintenance on valve cover gaskets and timing belt. These motors will easily get 250K+ miles if this is done. It is a "non-interference motor" which means if the timing belt snaps, it will not wreck the entire moror. that's a great thing! I just did a 5hr one way trip (both ways) in this with the following KNOWN issues on the truck WHEN I LEFT for the trip : leaking valve cover gaskets, 3 exhaust leaks, and a very small backpressure issue... and it went without one problem. THen I drove it in the mountains. That's a 3.4L toyota motor!! I must say the interior is average and the bench seat isn't good for long trips. The cup holders in the 90's Toyota trucks is a design nightmare. It blocks the view of climate control panel and radio when in use. But its a no frills truck for people who USE trucks!!

  • Beast of a truck

I've had mine for about 6 months now. 1996 with 4wd and the 5 speed. 180k miles. The 4wd is excellent. It's a little rusty and the tailgate panel doesn't match color-wise... so yeah it looks like a beater, but I'd take it anywhere. It's needed nothing except brake pads so far. Gas mileage is surprisingly good for a big, old pickup - around 19-21mpg average. The original V6 runs like a top, plenty of power. Love this thing. Plan to drive it until it rusts away.

  • One of Toyota?s best trucks

Great truck that is virtually indestructible. The 3.4 V6 is a workhorse that requires very little attention. On my second T100. The first was an automatic 4WD, current one is 5 Speed Manual 4WD. These trucks are overbuilt and can handle virtually any task. Keep an eye on the frame as rust can be an issue. Average 16-17 MPG around town and just under 20 on the highway. Toyota trucks from the 80?s - 90?s are fantastic trucks.

  • What A Truck!!!!!

On two separate instances while getting gas, guys approached me and asked me how much for your truck. .Now I know why!! I have 110000 miles. It is from Michigan, so the body aint perfect. But it still runs baby butt smooth. Never a problem. Put a 3 inch body lift kit and over-sized wheels and tires. Don't use it that much. Mainly for carrying loads. This truck is very lightt. It is a favorite for the baha. Seldom gets stuck. Very high power to weight ratio. Easy to work on being a 2/4 wheel drive. Comfortable ride, even with the oversized wheels. If somebody came up to me now, out of the blue and made me an offer; I would still turn them down!!!
